THAT CELEBRITY INTERVIEW
MARK SHRIVER
|
By Valder Beebe
I was delighted to talk with Mark Shriver. He is a member of both the Shriver and Kennedy families; since his mother was Eunice Mary Kennedy, his father was Sargent Shriver, the first director of the Peace Corps, upon its establishment by President John F. Kennedy. Sargent was a former ambassador to France and the 1972 Democratic Vice Presidential candidate.

Justices dubious at Texas’ claim that bounties insulate ‘heartbeat’ abortion ban from court review
|
Three-hour hearing pit Biden administration and clinics against Texas, which insists they lack standing to challenge Senate Bill 8 because private citizens enforce it through lawsuits.
|
WASHINGTON — Texas’ six-week abortion ban raised enough eyebrows at the Supreme Court on Monday to suggest the justices may reject the attempt to avoid federal court oversight by handing off enforcement to private citizens.
The Biden administration and abortion clinics pleaded for justices to see the outsourcing as an artifice designed to let Texas get away with a flagrant violation of women’s rights.

Welcome Back, NLRB – America’s Workers Missed You!
|
By Ray Curry, President, UAW
Before I get into just what the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) means — and has meant — to the working men and women of this nation, I want to start by citing a couple of pieces of data because I think they tell a real story. Right now, 68% of Americans approve of labor unions. That number is at a more than 50 year high.

The Path
As we walk through life's journey,
we leave footprints.
Some just show where we are going.
Others redirect us when we get lost.
Still others remain
to guide those we leave behind.
I see your footprints.
Will you/they see mine?
