Day 8 : Giving Thanks Together

Sunday Reflection

As we pause on this Sunday in our 50 Days of Gratitude for 50 Years of God’s Goodness journey, let's lift our eyes to God in thanksgiving.

This past week, we’ve been reminded of many ways God’s goodness has been made visible at Shepherd of the Hills — through music that carried us in uncertain times, through Christ-centered learning that deepened faith, through prayerful presence during a medical crisis, through a community that stepped in with generosity and care, and through encouragement that reached us even when we were apart.

Different moments. Different seasons. One faithful God.

Scripture gives us words for this kind of gratitude:

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever."
Psalm 100:4-5

In joy and in sorrow, in laughter and in fear, God has met us with what we needed — sometimes through quiet reassurance, sometimes through tangible help, sometimes through the faithful presence of others. As we reflect on these stories together, we see not just memories, but a pattern of God’s enduring goodness among us.

Prayer

Gracious God,

We give you thanks for your unfailing love and for the many ways you have cared for this church family. Thank you for filling us with hope when we were weary, for surrounding us with community when we felt alone, and for guiding us through every season. Open our eyes to your goodness at work among us, and shape us to be vessels of your grace for one another. Amen.

As you enter the week ahead, continue sharing your memories which reflect how Christ has shaped your life, how grace has carried you, and how connection has strengthened us as a community. May these stories continue to draw us closer to God — and to one another.
