We are proud to present our first Day Program Newsletter of 2021. Each month, Friends of Cyrus will be sharing stories from our Adult Day Program that include our clients, their families/guardians, and the Direct Support staff that serve them.
In this issue, we will be focusing on an extra special event we hosted at our Day Program in Medford, NJ. We will also be recognizing an amazing staff member who has gone above and beyond during her tenure at this facility.

Staff Appreciation Picnic 2021 |
This past September, Friends of Cyrus hosted our inaugural Staff Appreciation Picnic! We invited our incredible Direct Support staff and program participants out to our Medford Day Program to enjoy some barbecue, soak up some sun, and hang out with their fellow co-workers.
|
Direct Support Professionals are integral to maximizing the overall health and welfare of adults with IDD. They are our agency's lifeblood, working on the front lines before and during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure our program participants' physical and mental well-being.
As a token of our eternal gratitude, FOC's Leadership Team spent the day cooking for and serving our staff, residents, and Day Program participants. Most importantly, we placed a premium on celebrating them - our dedicated Direct Support Support staff who provide the best care in the business.

It is safe to say that Friends of Cyrus cannot wait for next year's Staff Appreciation Picnic and we look forward to recognizing our staff in a number of different ways in the years to come. |
A True Friend: Markiea Smith

We would like to take a moment to recognize one of our most passionate, dedicated, and self-driven Direct Support staff who has made her mark on our Day Habilitation facility in recent months.
Markiea Smith came to FOC earlier this year and hit the ground running. No matter the day, Markiea takes the initiative when engaging and supporting the individuals we serve at our Medford facility. Her unwavering patience and level of care make her an instrumental part of our Day Program's success and we are so happy to have her as part of our FOC Family.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you Markiea. We are so excited for what the future holds for you at FOC.

Adult Day Program Services in the Heart of New Jersey

Friends of Cyrus' Day Habilitation Services assist our clients in all aspects of daily living. When an individual joins us, our team conducts person-centered planning meetings to identify the most growth-oriented activities for each individual.

Activities in the community include vocational training and volunteer work, art, music, physical fitness, utilizing community resources, and computer training.
Daily living skills include communication and social skills, hygiene, cooking, cleaning, laundry, and money management when appropriate.
Other activities include art/music therapy, recreation, pet therapy, physical fitness, and computer training.

Friends of Cyrus’ 9,000 square foot Adult Day Program is located on 10 acres of crisp, wooded land in the heart of Medford, NJ. With outdoor walking trails, multiple classrooms, and a kitchen for cooking lessons, we have plenty of resources to keep our clients active and engaged in meaningful ways throughout the day.
Hours:
Mon-Fri, 10 AM – 3 PM
Staff Ratio:
Our center-based staff to client ratio is 1:6
(1:1 to 1:3 staff to client ratio can be provided, depending on the individual’s support needs and available funding.)

Friends of Cyrus is a Human Services agency that provides community-based residential programs, in-home support services, and day habilitation services to New Jersey’s developmentally disabled adults. Since its inception, Friends of Cyrus has operated with an unwavering mission in mind: to create a haven of lifetime support options for individuals with disabilities. Friends of Cyrus currently supports over 120 adults throughout Burlington and Middlesex Counties with a focus on fostering independence, dignity, privacy, choice, and individuality.
Friends of Cyrus was founded in 2013 by Kamelia Kameli, a veteran in the healthcare industry and the parent of an adult son with autism, and Daren Singhani, the former CEO of a healthcare staffing company. Kameli’s son, Cyrus, was diagnosed with Autism at an early age and inspired the founding of the agency.
