The Birmingham Jewish Federation is always excited to see someone from the Birmingham Jewish community "make it" - especially on the big screen. Odeya Rush (pictured here), who lived in Birmingham with her family for a short time, has definitely "made it!" While living in Birmingham, Odeya attended N.E. Miles Jewish Day School. After 40 wonderful years, the Day School has produced over 1000 successful students. The BJF is proud of the work that our Birmingham Jewish community does to help families who live here for most of their lives, or even those who are here for just a short amount of time. You can read more about Odeya below from Southern Jewish Life. Odeya Rush, currently starring in the Disney film "The Odd Life of Timothy Green," is a former student of Birmingham's N.E. Miles Jewish Day School. Her family moved to Birmingham from Israel when she was 9, and they left for New York two years later so she could pursue acting. She has also appeared on "Law and Order: SVU" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." She is also slated to portray Mary in "Mary, Mother of the Christ," the prequel for Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" - though Gibson has no role in this film. |
