Development FAQs

Thanks to those residents who have submitted questions about development in De Soto! We'll answer some new questions in this newsletter, and you can read more FAQs on the website here.

When will the Panasonic facility be open?

The scheduled opening date is Spring, 2025.

Will De Soto be building a lot of new houses to accommodate employees at Astra?

Not in the foreseeable future. Our research indicates that most employees will come from the surrounding area and commute in, so we don't anticipate needing a significant increase in housing to accommodate employees at the Panasonic plant.

Are there going to be training opportunities?

Yes. Several area schools have joined forces to create a Workforce Training Consortium: Johnson County Community College, Kansas City Community College, Peaslee Tech and, of course, USD 232. They're identifying training needs now.
