Safe Exchange Zone
The DeKalb Police Department is pleased to announce the addition of a Safe Exchange Zone. The Safe Exchange Zone is located in the front parking lot of the DeKalb Police Department located at 700 W. Lincoln Hwy. This zone will provide a safe area for those that buy, sell, or trade items with others. In addition, the Safe Exchange Zone can also provide a safe area for child custody exchanges. The zone is marked by the sign show to the right.

The Safe Exchange Zone is monitored 24 hours a day and is expected to reduce and deter thefts, robberies, fraudulent transaction and domestic violence during child exchanges.

This service is free for all to use and is available on a first come, first served basis. If you have any questions please contact the DeKalb Police Department at 815-748-8400.
First Street Bridge Reconstruction - Road Closure and Detour
Beginning April 1, the First Street Bridge over I-88 will be fully closed for deck and beam replacement. This project is part of the Illinois Tollway's ongoing construction project started last summer.

A picture of the route has been provided on the left to illustrate the detour.

Calling All Photographers
As the City works toward a redesign of our website, we have asked the community for input. An idea surfaced to add more high-quality photos throughout the website. With this idea in mind, the City is asking local photographers to help make this concept a reality. We have set up a submission portal for individuals who would like to submit their photos to be used on the website homepage, sub-pages, and other social media platforms.

To submit your photos please click here to be taken to the photo submission page and follow the instructions on how to submit a photo. If you have any questions, please contact Jason Blumenthal at [email protected] or 815-748-2396.
