THE ROAD FROM HERE:
"The Year of Celebration"

Kansas City, Missouri - February 2013,

Nationally renowned, multi-Stellar Award winning Gospel music star DeWayne Woods is back home in Kansas City, Missouri and working at Victorious Life Church at 3400 Paseo Boulevard.

"I must say that I am extremely excited about returning home to KC. This is where it all started for me," said the 'Let Go' singer. "I've always loved coming home, but this last time in December 2012, I knew there was a distinct purpose in my returning to Victorious Life. I've always felt connected to the ministry and especially Bishop (Mark C.) Tolbert. I believe this is a God-ordained move and going to be an amazing experience in ministry together."

As Praise Leader? Minister of Music? Woods considers the position as being an "Artist in Residence".

"This gives me an opportunity to expand and share my gift and the things that I've learned over the past few years being away from Kansas City and on the road  and find great foundational teaching sitting up under the tutelage of Bishop Tolbert who has always been one of my favorite preachers and teachers," said Woods who won multiple Stellar Awards in 2008 including New Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Urban Inspirational Single/Performance of the Year. His single "Let Go" rose to the No. 4 spot on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart.

Woods' vision for his new position is to define and develop components of the Worship and Arts Ministry; establish and implement ministry expectations; intensify outreach and evangelism efforts; and to strengthen stewardship commitment at Victorious Life Church.

"Being a Worship Leader has always been a passion of mine," he said. "Even as  an artist, I would always minister within my set as if I were leading worship. It brings me so much joy to watch God's people shift from where they are into the presence of God through worship," Woods said. "Knowing that God trusts me with such an awesome task is humbling and I take this position as a leader very seriously."

"I'm excited and ready to 'Live Out My Dreams in 2013', said Woods, a former Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts student.

For Woods, living out his dreams in 2013 not only means a return to Kansas City and Victorious Life Church, but also includes the culmination and commencement of numerous projects.

He is the first faith-based spokesperson for a campaign by PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

"I'm promoting a campaign called "No Dogs On Chains" sharing the importance of treating our animals with respect," he said. "I talk passionately about treating our dogs as part of the family, therefore building strong, confident and respectful animals."

Woods is currently enrolled in school to become a certified life coach which he says has "had a great impact on my personal life."

And don't forget about the music. Expect a new CD from Woods in late fall as well as a reunion with his favorite choir, When Singers Meet in the early part of the spring.

Welcome home Mr. Woods.
