A Praying and Praising Church
How do we say thanks to our Heavenly Father?

Dear members and friends of DeWitt in Christ Jesus

Can you believe
we are living in August 2022?
Make each day a Blessing!

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.” Genesis 1:31

Amazing God! Amazing Love! I have Changed!
In the Presence of God I can face my storms! Can we Worship God in the Storms in our lives?

Amazing God! Amazing Love! As I am traveling the highways and byways, I noticed God’s Creation. I marveled over the land and the greenery of God's existence. What a scenic view, as I read Moses declaration in Deuteronomy 10:14, “To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” For me, I admired in awe the beautification God intended the Creation should be as I am driving from city to city, churches to churches. Caring for Human life is still important, especially in this Covid Pandemic - Broken World, as caring for God’s Creation. I wonder how we as Children of God show respect for God by taking seriously our stewardship of all God Creation, which was one of humankind’s first job: Caring for the Land and One another!

Traveling from mountain to mountain, hills and valleys, the Spirit God called me to treasure God’s word and teachings just as we are to care for all His earthy creations. God’s amazing love has gifted my family and I with wonders in Christian Witness, Christian abilities in His Spirit to encourage one another with talents and wisdom and a love for His Word.

Through Jesus blessings, God encourages us amazingly with a purpose and gives our lives value and meaning in His Creation. God continues to speak to Dewitt in building community, showing hospitality and developing relationships in Christian Fellowship. And Finally, God speaks as I am driving, not only His Creation is beautiful, but God created us beautifully as well. Praise God for His Amazing Creation in me! HIS WORD IS CREATION!

Amazing God! Amazing Love!

Prayerfully,
Rev. Dr. Micheal Edwards

CALL TO PRAYER AND ACTION:
Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the Month. Next Prayer date: August 17, 2022 at 7:30pm - 8pm

As a Church community, DeWitt Reformed Church, continues to pray for healing and action on the racist tragedy on human lives. We pray for the families grieving the loss of their loved ones. The loss of any human life is tragic, but there continues to be a deep racial hatred in the land. As children of God, we are called to respect every human life, especially when white supremacy and racism is deep in the hearts of our neighbors.
Stay Cool During the Heat Wave:
  • Drinking enough water is one of the most important things you can do to prevent heat-related illness. An average person needs to drink about three-quarters of a gallon of fluid daily.
  • Stay cool indoors: Stay in an air-conditioned place as much as possible.
  • Wear appropriate clothing: Choose lightweight, light-colored, and loose-fitting clothing.
  • Don't use an electric fan when the indoor air temperature is over 95°F. ...
  • Use your stove and oven less.
  • Stay away from sugary, caffeinated and alcoholic drinks.
  • In general, eating meals and snacks throughout the day with adequate water intake is enough to maintain electrolytes and replace salt lost when you sweat.
  • Certain medical conditions and medications may mean you need to drink more water. Talk to your healthcare provider.
  • PLEASE KNOW THAT YOUR CHURCH CAN BE YOUR COOLING STATION DURING THE DAY: PLEASE CALL YOUR PASTOR OR ONE OF THE OFFICERS OF THE CHURCH...

SCRIPTURE OF THE WEEK:
Psalm 45 KJV

45 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; whereby the people fall under thee.
6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.
9 Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.
13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.
17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Prayer in Time of Trouble
Loving God, I need you, I need you to care for me, I need your love when I am feeling troubled, be my refuge from pain, replacing my distress with peace, and be my strength when I feel weak. There are times in my life, Lord I find it hard to carry on this Christian walk. Help me not to fear the future but to boldly trust that you are in control when my emotions plunge me down, and when I am in despair.
May I put my whole trust in you; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

RCA CREEDS AND CONFESSIONS OF THE CHURCH:

The Heidelberg Catechism is one of the Confessional Creed in the Reformed Church in America. There is some great teaching found in the Heidelberg Catechism as well. I’ve printed a few below as a learning tool for our continued Christian growth.

Part III: The Lord’s Prayer

Lord’s Day 47
Q&A 122
Q. What does the first petition mean?
A. “Hallowed be your name” means: Help us to truly know you,1 to honor, glorify, and praise you for all your works and for all that shines forth from them: your almighty power, wisdom, kindness, justice, mercy, and truth.2
And it means, Help us to direct all our living—what we think, say, and do—so that your name will never be blasphemed because of us but always honored and praised.3
