2024 Board of Director Application

Nominating Committee Chair Brooke Hunt encourages all interested members to submit names for consideration. All nominations must be received at GLAR by 4 pm on Friday, September 1st, 2023. Individuals may nominate themselves or another qualified REALTOR® member for the open positions. The Nominating Committee will review applicants and submit a slate for election.


Election will take place October 5th, 2023 at 9am; GLAR office.

Director: (3) 2 year terms; (1) 1 year term

Available Positions

President-Elect (1 position)

The President-Elect shall be a REALTOR® Member of the Association who has served as an elected Officer or Director of the Association for one (1) year or more and shall serve as chairperson of the Strategic Planning Committee of the Association. The President-Elect of the Association must hold an active Broker or Salesperson license issued by the Texas Real Estate Commission. The President-Elect shall serve in the absence of the President and shall automatically become President in the case of a vacancy between elections.


Responsibility

Serve as a replacement for the President if he or she is unable to fulfill any of his or her assigned duties. 


Directors shall attend all regularly scheduled or called meetings of the Board of Directors. Absences from four (4) regularly scheduled Directors’ Meetings during an Association year shall automatically terminate the Director’s tenure of office. The President shall appoint a new Director, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, to serve the unexpired term.

 

Duties

The President-Elect:

 

1.     Shall represent the Association before other organizations when invited and with the approval of the President or the Board of Directors.

 

2.     Maintains close contact with committee chairs and assists them and the President in setting goals for each committee, offering suggestions and assistance in attaining such goals.

 

3.     Maintains working relationship with the Association Executive.

 

4.     Co-signs checks, as required, for goods and services to the Association.

 

5.     Shall assist in carrying out the policies and programs at GLAR as approved by the Board of Directors.

 

6.     Attends as many committee meetings and association functions as possible.

 

7.     Shall be available to attend NAR, TAR(aka Texas REALTORS) conferences and other such meetings as stated in the Association’s Travel Guidelines Policy. The Association shall reimburse the President-Elect for registration, travel, lodging, meals and incidental expenses incurred through attendance at such meetings as stated in the Association’s Travel Guidelines Policy. 

 

8.     Shall serve on the GLAR Executive Committee.

 

Qualifications

 

1.     Must be a Primary REALTOR® member in good standing.

 

2.     Must have served a minimum of one year on the Board of Directors.

 

3.     Must attend/have attended Spokesperson Training offered by the Texas Association of REALTORS®, Inc.

 

4.     Strongly encouraged to be a contributor to TREPAC

 

5.     Must have served as Secretary-Treasurer prior to serving as President-Elect.

 

Term

The President-Elect is elected for a term of one year and succeeds to the office of President.

Secretary/Treasurer (1 position)

The Secretary/Treasurer shall be a REALTOR® Member of the Association having served as an elected or appointed Director of the Association for a term of two (2) years or more and if possible, having actively served at least twelve (12) months on the Association's Budget and Finance Committee prior to assuming office as Secretary/Treasurer. The Secretary/Treasurer must hold an active Broker or Salesperson license issued by the Texas Real Estate Commission. 


Responsibility

The Secretary/Treasurer of the association is sometimes called on to sign certain legal documents and to write and/or approve minutes of Board meetings as drafted by the Association Executive.  The Secretary/Treasurer presents the association’s monthly financial report to the Board of Directors. The Secretary/Treasurer should help prepare the association’s annual budget. The Secretary/Treasurer is chairperson of the association’s Budget/Finance Committee, which reviews the budget and financial conditions

The President shall appoint a new Director, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, to serve the unexpired term.

 

Duties

The Secretary/Treasurer shall:  Record minutes of Board of Directors Meetings, Executive Committee Meetings, and annual membership meetings in the absence of the Association Executive and help prepare the association’s annual budget. (Minutes are to be turned into the Board Office within one week of meeting).  


1. Shall serve on the GLAR Executive Committee. Shall serve as chairperson of the association’s Budget/Finance Committee, which reviews the budget and financial conditions.

2.  Maintains working relationship with the Association Executive.

3. Co-signs checks, as required, for goods and services to the Association.

4.  Shall assist in carrying out the policies and programs at GLAR as approved by the Board of Directors.

The Secretary/Treasurer is elected for a term of one year.

Director (3- 2yr terms; 1- 1 yr term positions)

Before a member qualifies as a nominee to be elected to the Board of Directors, the member shall have been a REALTOR® member of GLAR for at least three years and an active participant on a GLAR committee for at least one year. Years counting for membership/committee service can be concurrent.


210: RESPONSIBILITY AND DUTIES OF DIRECTORS

 

Responsibility

Participate as a member of the governing body of the Association.


Directors shall attend all regularly scheduled or called meetings of the Board of Directors. Absences from four (4) regularly scheduled Directors’ Meetings during an Association year shall automatically terminate the Director’s tenure of office. The President shall appoint a new Director, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, to serve the unexpired term.


Duties

The Director shall:


1.     Attend every Board of Directors and assigned Committee, Sub-committee or Task Force meeting in accordance with the bylaws of the Association.

2.     Present to the Board of Directors any programs, suggestions or concerns of the members.

3.     Make every attempt to attend all major functions of the Association.

4.     Assist in carrying out the policies and programs at GLAR as approved by the Board of Directors.


Qualifications


1.     Directors must be a member in good standing.

2.     Affiliate/Membership Committee Chair must be an Affiliate member in good standing.

3.     Strongly encouraged to be a contributor to TREPAC.


Term

Directors are elected for terms of two years.
