How to Schedule an Informal Hearing by Jan 9
Your assessment reflects the estimated market value of your property as of the revaluation date. If you believe your assessment does not accurately reflect your home's value, condition, or comparable properties, you have the right to appeal.
🗣️ Informal Hearings with the Revaluation Company
Informal hearings may be scheduled in the following ways:
- By Phone: 833-549-7752 - Phone assistance is available 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
-
Hearings will be conducted primarily by phone. A Tyler Technologies representative will call you at the scheduled time. Please allow a few minutes in case they are running behind.
-
Listings of Fairfield house sales can be found here: These can be used when reviewing your new value.
📄 Supporting Documentation
What you should submit:
-
Two to Four Good Comparable Sales (Comps): A good comp is similar style, size and location and sold as close to October 1, 2025, as possible. You will likely need to consider comps that are superior or inferior to your home, understanding that the sales price would be more or less than what your home would likely sell for. Also keep in mind the sales timeframe - sales much earlier than October 1, 2025, will have a lower sales price.
-
Some images of issues your home may have that would affect value and are not maintenance issues.
-
Items incorrectly listed on the field card.
What you should not submit:
-
Long multi-page documents: Lengthy documents are not nearly as helpful as a short concise explanation of why you think the value is incorrect.
-
Spreadsheets of properties: Especially those that use a per square foot calculation or only look at a single component, such as just the land or the building. Square foot comparisons very often produce erroneous results.

Remember that your property assessment reflects current market conditions and does not determine how much you will pay in property taxes. The mill rate (tax rate) is set in spring 2026 as part of the Town's budget process. Thank you for your patience as the Town completes this important process.
