Volunteers with the Disaster Relief Ministry travel to Fort Myers, Florida, on Saturday. Please pray that the members of the team stay safe and are able to be God's hands and feet as they work to help the area continue to recover from Hurricane Ian. This is their fifth trip related to the 2022 storm. | | | |
McRaven Retires from Waddell Church | At the end of 2023, Commissioned Ruling Elder Charles "Mac" McRaven retired as pastor at Waddell Memorial Presbyterian Church. He served the church in Orange County for more than 20 years. We rejoice with Mac on this special occasion and are grateful for the dedication and commitment with which he served. Has your church considered becoming an Earth Care Congregation? The annual enrollment and recertification period is open through February 15. The process is simple; share how your congregation has committed to earth care in the areas of worship, education, facilities, and outreach. | |
Tracing the Roots That Connect Us | On March 9 and 10, Providence Church in Gum Spring will host genealogist, recording artist, and author Orice Jenkins. Jenkins has traced his ancestry to 1756 in Central Virginia, uncovering the stories of family members who were enslaved by two of the church's founders. Learn more on March 9 at 10 a.m. when Jenkins shares his findings. All are invited to a potluck lunch following the presentation; bring a dish to share. Seating is limited so RSVP to Providence’s pastor, Susan Steinberg. Jenkins also will sing during Providence’s 11 a.m. worship on March 10; all are welcome. | |
Volunteers Needed for Middle School Conference | Massanetta Springs seeks adults to serve as leaders during the 2024 Middle School Conferences. Opportunities include theme and recreation assistants, workshop directors, advocate coordinators, and co-directors. Use your gifts to help youth explore the theme "Keep calm and rejoice: the Lord is near" from Philippians 4:4-7. | |
Local Program Available for Students Interested in Pursuing Ministry | Do you know a high school senior who is discerning a call to ministry? The A. Purnell Bailey Pre-Ministerial Program at Randolph-Macon College covers 75 percent of a student’s undergraduate tuition over four years. Interested students may apply online by February 5. | |

The Reverend Donald "Don" Steele passed away January 24. He and his wife, Kay, co-pastored several small churches in Virginia: Village, Drakes Branch, and Colonial Heights Presbyterian Churches. After retirement, he served Bott Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dinwiddie County. Please keep Kay and their family and friends in your prayers. A memorial service will be held February 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Covenant Woods in Mechanicsville. Read Don's obituary. | | |
