JYM Weekly News Dec. 5th - Dec. 12th
NEW CHURCH! ALL EVENTS in December and January are at Cambrian Park UMC on 1919 Gunston Way unless otherwise stated
Please keep collecting your Serve-a-thon donations! We want to actually bring in the promised total so send your reminder emails to family who said they'd pledge and ask at church for those promised donations. It would be great to have all the pledges resolved before the end of the 2019 year. We are very close to receiving our total, final push!
MALL NIGHT SERVICE PROJECT
December 6th at 6pm
Pickup between 10:30 - 11:00pm
MUST RSVP by TODAY!
What we still need:
  1. Parent Drivers: We still need a couple more parents to help drive students to and from the mall. If you are able to do this, please respond to this email with how many seats are in your car. You can stay for the entire event, or just drop kids off at the mall and come back to pick them up
  2. Gift Wrapping Supplies: Gift bags, Tissue Paper, Wrapping paper, scotch tape, ribbons, scissors. If you have any extra you would like to donate, we would love that! Just have your teen bring it with then when they arrive.
  3. Unused socks: Everyone needs a pair of socks, especially when it's cold out! If you want to donate some new socks, we will add them to people's packages.
Keep reading for every detail about the night - including why, how, and what you can donate!
*When: Dec. 6th. Drop off at 6pm. Pick up students between 10:30pm - 11:00pm that night.
Meet at Cambrian Park. When all money organized and students are gathered we will leave for the mall. (Around 6:30pm we hope.) We return to CPUMC about 9:15pm for wrapping. We should be done wrapping by 10:30. We will play some games and hang out while parents pick up their kiddos.
*Where: Meet at CPUMC 1919 Gunston Way.
Leaders and parents will drive over to Oakridge mall and back to CPUMC for wrapping and parent pick up.
*Cost: Up to you! Students bring money to buy themselves dinner in the mall food court. They keep that cash with them.
Any money students of families want to donate will go toward gift buying for our sponsored families. We will collect all the money and divide it equally among the individuals receiving gifts.
*Why: Students often love this event because they can give their own money, and often some from their parents.
They shop specifically for a person or family, take ownership in selecting a gift, and do so with friends.
It teaches teens about budgeting, generosity, intention and much more.
YOU MUST RSVP BY THURSDAY (Today!!) SO WE HAVE ENOUGH ROOM IN THE CARS

*What & How: We are sponsoring 81 people for groceries and Christmas gifts this holiday season. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Students bring money they are able to donate to put in a pool for all the families we sponsor. Then we evenly distribute all the donated cash (and online donations) to the people we are shopping for. Our goal is $40 per individual for gifts, and $125 of grocery gift cards for each of our 11 families.
Each teen shopping group (of 3-6 teens) will have multiple people to shop for with cash and gift list. They will pick out the gifts at the mall and then come back to CPUMC to wrap and label. Every family in the JYM donates differing amount so there is not a "requirement" of what you give to participate. Do what you can. We can give you a tax donation receipt.
Ideally we want students to not only have their parent give a little for this shopping night, but have them contribute some of their own working, chores, or allowance money as well. This makes the evening and task more personal for them.
Sometimes students bring $10 to donation to the general fund and some bring $300. Anywhere and anyway you can give is fine with us whether its time or money . Give what you are able. Additionally, we are collecting gift cards to grocery stores. We want to be sure each family has enough to purchase groceries for Christmas dinner and beyond. Donation receipts can be given on night of event.

Sunday, December 8th Kat is preaching at Cambrian Park UMC in the morning. (10:00am worship). Anyone is welcome to attend church and hear her message!
There is no Youth Group in the evening, due to Friday's Mall Night and all of our other Dec. Events
