The deadline to register upstream oil and gas facilities to meet the requirements of the Federal regulations respecting reduction in the release of methane and certain volatile organic compounds is
April 30, 2020.
Along with the AER’s requirements for Methane (which came into force January 1, 2020), the federal Regulations respecting reduction in the release of methane and certain volatile organic compounds also came into force January 1, 2020. The purpose of this federal legislation is to reduce emissions of methane and certain volatile organic compounds at all upstream oil and gas facilities in Canada. In order to achieve this purpose, operators are required to register all qualifying upstream oil and gas facilities where methane and/or volatile emissions occur. The deadline to submit your list of facilities is April 30, 2020.
