August Member Spotlight - Dr. Maribeth Williams
"I love my job. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined a career as a program director in family medicine. I am fortunate to spend my weeks training the next generation of talented family medicine physicians, teaching eager medical students, caring for an underserved patient population, collaborating in research projects to improve healthcare for all, and engaging in conversations around the future of family medicine through participation in national organizations."

Medicaid Supplemental Minimum Wage Funding
Medical Concept-Medicaid word written on label tag with Stethoscope on wood background
The State of Florida's 2022-23 fiscal year budget provided over $600 million in funding to the Agency for HealthCare Administration (Agency or AHCA) for the sole purpose of increasing the minimum wage for employees of Medicaid providers to at least $15.00 an hour.  The Agency is required to enter into a supplemental wage agreement with each impacted Medicaid Provider by no later than October 1, 2022, to ensure compliance with the minimum wage requirements.  All physicians who bill for services under the impacted fee schedules must sign the Medicaid Provider Supplemental Wage Agreement and will be reimbursed at the increased rates. Providers who fail to sign the agreement will be subject to recoupment of funds associated with the minimum wage requirement.

AHCA has released a new posting for FAQs to address questions submitted including if you are required to accept the payments and potential exemptions. To complete the agreement, physicians must log into their FL Medicaid Secure Web Portal account to review and sign the supplemental wage agreement before October 1 - please do not delay!
