Advocating for Children Who Are Deaf or HOH
March 2017

            Hand in Hand-China-Deaf Advocacy

At Hand in Hand, we provide special advocacy for our children from China who are deaf or hard of hearing. All too many times, these children are placed in inappropriate and inadequate educational settings...if they receive any formal intervention at all! Sometimes children with hearing loss are labeled "mentally retarded" because their issues are not understood or addressed. We host a special Facebook group to advocate for children assigned to Hand in Hand, and we welcome prospective parents, experienced parents, and professionals to join us in advocating for these special, precious children!

Thanks to our special advocacy for deaf children, darling little Bryson has a family! They will be traveling later this year to make him their precious son!

These children are still waiting!

6 year old Milo is a real cutie! He has  aural atresia, and has some hearing loss. Milo is very sociable and caring. He helps the nannies to take care of the little ones, but he is a little one himself who needs caring parents! Milo LOVES legos and can build a huge castle by himself. He speaks in 4-5 word sentences, and has been receiving some speech therapy.

Bennett is one of the most engaging and adorable little boys you could hope to meet! He is super smart, and reads lips easily. He is very outgoing and sociable, and he is the child all the other children gravitate to. A leader, but kind. He is active and loves to play ball. He has excellent motor skills and food focus. He often sits and reads simple books by himself. He has large, expressive, intelligent eyes, and a shock of black hai r. So incredibly cute!

Bennett was able to attend a special school for a couple of years and did extremely well, but there are few resources for him in his area. He goes to a regular school now, and he is adaptable. His teachers like him and try to help.
This little wave warrior would likely come up to his full potential if a family would adopt him and have him evaluated for services.

Bennett can be hosted in June 2017!  Or, he can be adopted without hosting!

Precious little four year old Linnie is deaf and cannot speak, but she understands very well. She is a sweet, shy, darling little pre-schooler with a round, cute face and pigtails. Although Linney can't hear, she can dance. She feels for the vibrations, and she loves to move to the music with her buddies!

Linney makes good eye contact and is close with her caregivers. She is a cuddlebug!
Linney loves all kinds of activities, drawing, painting and coloring are favorites! She has lots of friends in her little group, and seems to get along very well with the other children.
Linney could so benefit for an evaluation and services for the deaf! She is just scrumptious!

Linney can be adopted without hosting, but she is also eligible for hosting in June, 2017!

Ten year old Nick has some hearing, and was able to receive hearing aids. Since then, he is able to speak so much better, and he works very hard to improve his communication. He is a super smart, super cute boy! He is very able and attends school in the community. He has lots of friends and is very well liked. He has a great curiosity to learn new things.

Nick is on our June 2017 hosting list, but could be adopted without hosting!
