Dean Families,
Always a great time of year when we add the daylight and subtract the snow! We hope that your student had an enjoyable spring break, traveling, working to earn some extra money or simply hitting the snooze button a few extra times. Everyone will now set their sights on the finish line, a mere seven weeks away. In between that time will likely involve a frenetic pace of classes, work and extracurricular activities. Remind your student to take a breath or two and truly enjoy all of their successes. We know that your unwavering support is critical to their emotional stamina and, as always, have them connect with the array of resources here in Bulldog Nation (offices and contact numbers are provided in the close of the newsletter). The following details some important events and dates right around the corner. Go Bulldogs!

From Counseling Services: Spring Forward…Tips to stay motivated
The weeks following spring break can be a time when students feel unmotivated and tired. Here are 5 easy tips to keep up your post spring break motivation.
Tip 1:
Go to bed one hour earlier than usual.
Sleep and motivation go hand in hand. Pushing your bed time back by one hour is a proactive approach to ensure you are getting enough sleep to wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Tip 2. Take 15 minutes a day organize yourself.
Being organized gives us a sense of accomplishment and control. Use these 15 minutes to look at your school work, check your agenda and prioritize tasks that need to be completed. This gives you the ability to plan things out so that you don’t get overwhelmed with daily responsibilities.
Tip 3: Group studying.
Studying with peers is a great way to stay motivated and energized to get work done. Plan with your friends about how you will keep each other on track, set a time line for studying and taking breaks.
Tip 4. Change things up.
Simples things, such as changing the location of where you study, where you sit in the dining hall, whose room you hang out in at night can keep you feeling refreshed and gives you something different to look forward to.
Tip 5. Make time for fun and laughter!
Socializing and laughing are great ways to stay refreshed and motivated. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being.
Counseling Services are available for any student who may be struggling with motivation. Call 508.541.1602 to set up an appointment.
