Bulldog Families, What a year and semester it has been. Hard to capture into words what has transpired since early in 2020. The worldwide pandemic has brought staggering comprehension of loss mixed in with the current relief of millions being vaccinated. Each day brings hope that businesses will begin to rebound and for a social justice movement where voices of underrepresented populations demanding equity in all realms of society are heard. As the spring season has given way to longer days and rising temperatures also came positive news from the Commonwealth that an in- person Commencement can now become a reality; a highlight that those of us at Dean look forward to as much as any event throughout the academic year. This year we will recognize both the graduating classes of 2020 and 2021...twice as much to celebrate! Our community has shown great resilience over the past year and we must carry that grit and perseverance through the final weeks of the semester. We are ever grateful for the partnership that exists between staff/ faculty, students and families in Bulldog Nation. We know that your support, whether in a virtual or in-person fashion, has been critical to students' continued success. Exam Week: Monday, May 3- Thursday, May 6

Residence Halls- Closing Time! Resident students are required to depart three hours after the completion of their last exam (this policy is extremely beneficial to those still in the midst of completing exams). The residence halls will officially close at 6:00pm on Thursday, May 6th (graduating resident students participating in Commencement- see below).   Any exceptions to this policy will be determined by the Office of Residence Life. Students must complete the checkout procedure as discussed in their residence hall meetings. All rooms must be cleaned, and keys properly returned to avoid a room charge. Students should contact their Resident Director, Community Advisor or Chapman House with any questions.   Graduating resident students participating in Commencement on Saturday, May 8th should depart campus 2 hours following the conclusion of the ceremony. Graduates are encouraged to pack their rooms prior to Commencement. Following Commencement graduates will be expected to complete the appropriate check-out process in their respective residence hall. Students should meet with their Resident Director and/or Community Advisor with any questions. Apple Box Storage As we approach the end of the semester, we want to remind students that the only storage company that Dean College partners with is Apple Box Storage.   Apple Box Storage has been a partner of the Office of Residence Life for many years. Apple Box Storage will pack and store belongings throughout the summer and/or pack and ship belongings through UPS. If interested, please visit https://www.appleboxcollege.com/ to sign up directly with Apple Box.   In the middle of April, you will see Dan from Apple Box storage on campus in the Campus Center tabling for this service. You will be able to sign up and get your questions answered.   If you have additional questions regarding this service email SmartMove@AppleBoxCollege.com.

Green Family Library Learning Commons and Morton Family Learning Center- Get Ready for Exams! The Green Family Library Learning Commons (GFLLC) and the Morton Family Learning Center will have extended hours for the last week of classes and Final Exam week. All hours are posted on Today@Dean and throughout campus. There will be tutors in the Morton Family Learning Center (2nd floor of the GFLLC) during these hours to assist students. Students may schedule tutoring appointments online or walk in for assistance; see the Learning Center’s page on Today@Dean for a complete listing of available tutoring times.

Robbins Family Center for Advising & Career Planning  Finish strong! The last round of monitoring just went out; encourage your student to connect with their Success and Career Advisor if they need academic support in these final weeks! There’s still time for summer internships! Check out DEAN CareerLink and get in touch for details on taking DCA-300 over the summer. Summer Courses are available here. Students need to reach out to their Success and Career Advisor to register. Is your graduating student still looking for a job? Reach out for job hunting advice, additional resume/cover letter and interview prep! Has your graduating student landed a job or been accepted into graduate school? Have them email careers@dean.edu with their updates!

Financial Planning for 2021 - 2022   Reminder - If you plan to apply for financial aid for the 21-22 academic year, we recommend that you complete the FAFSA as soon as possible at studentaid.gov/fafsa so we can provide you with a financial aid award before the end of the spring term. Dean College’s school code is 002144. Please contact the Center for Student Financial Planning with any questions at 508.541.1518 or email them at sfp@dean.edu .    Enrollment Deposit  Prior to participating in Housing Selection and Fall Registration, students must pay a $250 deposit. If you have not done so already, the fee can be paid online at  https://dean.afford.com/PPT/MakeAPayment. The fee will be credited toward your Fall 2021 tuition bill.

Dining Services- Use up those Boomer's Bucks! Remind your student that Boomer's Bucks are 'Use it or lose it'. Make those final trips to Boomer's, Bulldog Beanery or our off campus partners to spend those Bucks! Semester closing dates and times for campus eateries will be posted on Today@Dean. COVID-19 Vaccine Eligibility- Protect the Bulldog Community!  Check with your home state’s Department of Public Health on your eligibility for a COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccines help protect people who get vaccinated from getting sick or severely ill with COVID-19 and may also help protect people around them. The vaccine is 95% effective at preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection. After April 19 all students studying in Massachusetts are eligible for vaccination, even if you do not reside in the state. Find an appointment at: https://vaccinefinder.org/search/

GO GATRA UNITED- DEAN STUDENTS took 550+ rides in MARCH! Students looking to do some grocery or retail shopping in the local area can take advantage of a new service called GO GATRA UNITED. Students can download the App and then use it like a car sharing service. There is currently a three person maximum for vehicles. The service runs Monday- Friday 7am- 6pm and Saturday 9am -6pm. We will have updates about the service for fall prior to students' return in September.

Calendar Planning When seeking information about Dean College calendar dates, please use the Official Academic Calendar that is listed on www.dean.edu under the Academics tab. Please do not use Google or other internet search engines for the calendar as it is likely to produce outdated and incorrect information.
