Families,
As we rapidly approach the mid-point of the semester, a break is in order...Spring Break that is! This is a great chance to catch up with your student to check on their progress and remind them that housing selection and fall course selection is coming soon. If your student is heading to a warmer climate for the break like a few of our athletic teams, I'm jealous! For our families of graduating students, continue to visit dean.edu for up-to-date commencement information. That amazing day will be here before we know it. I always remind seniors that this last push is a blur, similar in nature to the other three years, but so important to soak in and enjoy every moment.
I hope everyone has a terrific month ahead, and don't forget to change those clocks. Time to get a bit more sunlight during the New England evenings. A signal of warmer weather ahead...we hope! Please see below for important highlights and updates from Bulldog Nation.
Best,
Dave Drucker, M. Ed.
Associate Vice President, Student Life & Dean of Students

Returning Student Housing Selection
That time of year is drawing near… Housing Selection for Fall 2023! Housing Selection information is now available for all returning students. Students have received information about completing their housing application and paying their deposit. Make sure to check in with your student to ensure they have completed these important steps. The Housing Booklet is available for students on the Residence Life page on Today@Dean. Returning student housing selection for Fall 2023 will begin for rising seniors and juniors the week of March 27th, with the week of April 3rd for rising sophomores and first years.
Remember, for students to be eligible for Housing Selection, they will need to 1) Pay their deposit of $250 to the Center for Student Financial Planning and Services by Wednesday, March 15th (located in Dean Hall) 2) Clear any holds that may be on their account with Student Financial Planning and Services 3) Complete the MyHousing Application. By completing these steps, students will be eligible to select housing during their housing selection time.
If you are interested in learning more about the housing selection process, please check out the Returning Student Housing Selection Booklet. Students received an email on February 21st containing the housing selection material.
Please understand that single options are limited on campus. Singles will be a part of the housing selection process; if one is available at the student’s selection time, they would be eligible to select this space. If filled, students would need to choose another housing option. The Office of Residence Life will manage a waitlist for students who are interested in a single and aren’t able to get one through the selection process. It is recommended that students have a backup plan in mind for the selection process, including a roommate option.
Students are reminded that unless approved by the Office of Residence Life to change to commuter status, they must live on campus as housing is guaranteed for four years.
Commuter students must live with immediate family, or an approved guardian confirmed by the Office of Residence Life, or they will be in violation of the housing policy.

Resident students should unplug all electronics, empty trash, and close windows before departing campus. Students can access a form on Today@Dean to request to stay for a portion or the entire break due to distance from home (500 miles or greater) or flight arrangements. Students should complete this form by Wednesday, March 1st. Residence Life also works with athletics and is aware of any athlete who must be on campus for a portion of the break.

Residence Life- Summer Storage Solution
Each year as the spring semester begins to wind down, the Dean College Office of Residence Life receives numerous requests to store belongings during the summer from students wishing to avoid bringing them home, only to bring them back again a few months later. While we do not have space on campus to accommodate these requests, we do have a solution.
We have a new exclusive partnership with StorageSquad.com which will pick up, store, and re-deliver your student's items that they will not need until next semester. This is a very easy way to make move-out less stressful for you and your student. More information will be made available in the next newsletter and to your student's Dean email.
If you have additional questions, please reach out to the

Fall 2023 Course Registration
It's hard to believe it's already that time of year when we will start thinking about registration for Fall 2023 courses! While registration doesn't happen until April, now is a good time to encourage your student to:
-review their progress in Student Planning
-think about courses and subject areas they still want to take advantage of
-check for any holds on their account that would prevent registration
Students will meet with their Success & Career Advisor in late March/early April and can reach out to them with any questions in the meantime.

Boomer Chat is Back!
At the beginning of every semester, our chatbot Boomer re-introduces himself to students via text. Boomer checks in on students every few weeks to gauge how they are adjusting to the semester and if they need any additional support or resources. Students can also text Boomer questions 24/7, for example, "what time does the dining center close?" and Boomer will text back the answer!
Please encourage your students to respond and engage with Boomer. If you are receiving the texts instead of your student, please email kefitzgerald@dean.edu with your student's name and correct phone number.

Campus Parking 2023- 2024
We are preparing to open requests for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 parking program. All interested students must complete the parking application by April 7 to be considered.
In the near future, students can access the application via a link on Today@Dean, marketing efforts in the Campus Center Concourse, and student email. The parking lottery is based on a student's seniority and completed credits. Applications submitted after April 7 may be placed on a parking waitlist, dependent on overall student campus parking availability.
Students on the parking waitlist will be contacted during the summer months as spaces become available. Students that do not receive a parking spot via the parking lottery or the waitlist will not be permitted to bring a vehicle to campus. All questions regarding campus parking should be directed to Captain Erica Abro at eabro@dean.edu.
Students selected for a campus parking space for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 academic year via the parking lottery will receive an email with their campus parking location by Thursday, May 4, 2023.
