Bulldog Families,
As the sun sets on the summer, and a hot one at that, we excitedly await both our newest class of students and our returning Bulldogs. The new academic year is always marked with firsts; however, this one is especially significant as we welcome new leadership in President Elmore and Chancellor Augustus.
I often share with students how every year is unique and that their efforts and accomplishments will etch their individual and collective legacy in Bulldog Nation. We will encourage them to seek out new opportunities and perhaps discover hidden talents. Even moments that do not finish with the anticipated result can provide valuable life experiences. This year will also be marked with several opportunities for students to connect with the President and Chancellor as they lay out their vision for current and future generations of Bulldogs.
I will communicate with families monthly to keep you abreast of upcoming events and deadlines and to post highlights from campus. I look forward to connecting with you all this year!
Go Bulldogs!
Best,
Dave Drucker, M. Ed.
Associate Vice President, Student Life & Dean of Students

Dear Dean Community,
I hope this message finds you well as we enjoy another beautiful New England summer. As each day passes, from events celebrating Dr. Paula M. Rooney on her amazing tenure to the announcement of my hiring as Dean’s first-ever Chancellor, we move one step closer to the beginning of the fall semester. There is nothing quite like the start of the school year and I am eager for it to arrive.
A few weeks ago, I officially joined the Dean College Community in my new role and began working with Dean’s fourteenth President Kenneth Elmore on this innovative approach to leadership. I sincerely want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome. This is an exciting and humbling time for me with each day bringing more knowledge and insight into what makes Dean such a special institution. That starts with all of you. Health Services and COVID-19
The College will begin the academic year with a 'mask friendly' policy on campus. Those that feel more comfortable wearing a mask indoors or outdoors should do so. Students are encouraged to bring masks to campus as well as COVID-19 rapid tests. Health Services will maintain a supply as well. As the pandemic is everchanging, we will update campus policies as needed. There will not be isolation or quarantine spaces on campus this year. Students testing positive for COVID-19 will be encouraged to return home for the five-day isolation period when possible. View additional information by clicking on the following link: COVID-19 management.
Health Services, located in Chapman House, will be open during the academic year Monday through Friday 10am- 5pm. There are two urgent care facilities within close proximity of the College for evenings and weekends if medical attention is needed. Physician One Urgent Care and Milford Regional Urgent Care. Students may contact Campus Safety for transportation at 508.541.1888 when needed.
Resident students are encouraged to bring basic health supplies with them to campus such as a thermometer, Tylenol, cold medication, Lysol wipes, tissues, etc.
Frequently asked questions, such as what pharmacies are close to campus, can be found on the Health Services webpage. We look forward to working with your students!

With that in mind, Walgreens Pharmacy will be on campus to provide both the COVID-19 Booster Vaccines and Flu vaccine for the Dean College Community. Students should check Today@Dean and campus postings for dates and times of the vaccine clinics.

Sending Mail and Care Packages
**NEW PROCESS**
Bulldogs and Families, please make note of the following new process for mailing items to campus:
All student mail and packages sent to campus must be addressed as follows:
Student's Full Name (no nicknames please)
Dean College
99 Main Street
Franklin, MA 02038
• We are no longer utilizing mailboxes, or PMB #’s. All mail and packages will be sorted alphabetically by last name. When students pick up a package, we will also check for regular mail. All items will be distributed at the mailroom services window.
• Please refrain from using nicknames, as it will slow down the processing of your mail and could result in your mail being returned to sender.
• Please try to limit online shopping, as it can severely slow down processing time.
• Students will receive an email notification each time a package is received. Look for a “Pitney Bowes SendSuite Tracking” notification in your Dean College email.
Please note that a confirmation email that your package was delivered by the carrier DOES NOT mean we have it available for pick up at that moment. Please wait for the Pitney Bowes Sendsuit Tracking notification email from Dean.
**You must have your Dean College I.D. when you pick up your packages.
Mailroom hours during the Academic Year
Monday through Thursday- 11am- 7pm
Friday- 11am- 5pm
-From the Dean College Postal Services Team
If you have any concerns, please visit us at the mailroom in the lower level of the Dr. Paula M. Rooney Student Center Atrium or call 508-541-1533. Thank You!

Campus Parking 2022- 2023
At the current time, our resident student parking program is at full capacity. There is a waitlist and students are welcome to add their names at any time (see contact information below). First-year students may not have a car on campus. As spaces become available, students will be contacted to confirm their continued interest in campus parking.
Please be reminded that vehicles found on Dean's property without a valid permit will be fined and potentially towed. This may also jeopardize a student's ability to receive a parking permit for the spring. We ask that students not park in residential neighborhoods adjacent to the College as it becomes a disruption to our neighbors.
First-year commuter students can receive their parking permits at the Commuter Student Meeting on Monday, September 5th at 4:15pm. All questions regarding campus parking should be directed to Zach Roy, Campus Safety Manager, at zroy@dean.edu.

Free Shuttle for Students
Students can download the Gatra Go United app for a free rideshare service available to them Monday thru Friday 7am- 6pm and Saturday from 9am- 6pm. We will provide directions on the student portal as there is a special Dean College code for our community.
There is a three-passenger maximum for each trip. Students can use the service for Franklin and the neighboring towns of Foxboro, Wrentham, Norfolk, and Bellingham. Students have the opportunity to visit grocery stores, retail shopping centers, restaurants, and movie theatres. This includes Wrentham Outlets (Wrentham) and Patriot Place (Foxboro).
Students that choose to leave and return to campus before and after the hours provided by Gatra Go must obtain their own transportation (friend, rideshare, etc.). Campus Safety cannot leave campus for non-emergent transportation needs.

Student Activities
The Student Activities and Leadership Development office (SALD) is busy preparing for a terrific year of in-person events and activities. The Student Involvement Fair will take place on Tuesday, September 13th. This is a great opportunity for students to join one of the many social and academic student organizations. Students should view the student portal on Today@Dean daily in addition to banners in the Student Center and the Dean TV channel 3.1 for additional information. Students with any questions about events, activities, or organizations can visit the SALD office in the lower level of the Dr. Paula M. Rooney Student Center.

Dean College Counseling Services welcomes students to campus and wishes them a meaningful, engaging, and successful academic year. We are here to support your personal and educational journey.
Attending college is an exciting time for students and family members! It also can have challenges and at times be stressful! At some point during the college years, students might find themselves struggling and in need of additional support. It will be important for students to know the resources available and where they can go for assistance.
Counseling Services is in Chapman House, we are open Monday-Thursday 9:00- 5:00pm and Friday 10:00- 4:00pm. We provide free, confidential counseling services for students.
We offer short-term/problem-focused counseling model services which include, individual counseling, counseling consultations, small group meet-ups, crisis assessment, referrals to community providers, as well as educational programs and workshops. We work continually to expand and diversify our services to offer new pathways for students to access support.
As mentioned above Counseling Services provides a short-term counseling model. If an initial intake assessment indicates that a student’s therapeutic needs are beyond the scope of what we can offer (e.g., area of expertise is required, or frequency of contact is necessary) the student will be given assistance in securing alternative off-campus therapeutic resources.
At this time, Counseling Services has a limited number of clinicians, which impacts appointment availability and wait time. It is recommended, if a student is currently meeting with a home clinician, to continue services with the provider to ensure consistency with therapeutic care.
If you have any questions, please contact MaryAnn Silvestri, M. Ed, LMHC, Director of Counseling at msilvestri@dean.edu or 508-541-1602. Thank you!
