Families,
As we enter the final third of the fall semester, the pace tends to quicken with thoughts of wrapping up courses and the holiday breaks ahead. This is a great time to check in with your students and see if they are taking advantage of all of the academic resources available to them in the Library Learning Center.
Registration for spring classes is also underway,a great time for students to connect with their advisors and stay on track! And while they are making choices on classes, here's a reminder that November brings about a time to exercise their voice and their vote. According to local news reports, over 40 million have voted by mail this year, especially important for college students who may not be registered in their current place of residence. A basic tenet of our democracy and regardless of political affiliation, everyone should vote!
There has been a multitude of performances, athletic events, and student activities with our campus Thanksgiving Dinner right around the corner. This time-honored tradition where faculty and staff serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner is an event our entire community cherishes each year. While this may be a simple opportunity to appreciate one another and give thanks, the absence of the event during the pandemic was an important reminder that we should not take these moments for granted.
Please see below for campus updates, events, and timelines. Wishing all of our families a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. Go Bulldogs!
Best,
Dave Drucker, M. Ed.
Associate Vice President, Student Life & Dean of Students

Dean College students had the opportunity to perform at the recently named Dean College Stage at Patriot Place. The naming of the stage is another exciting piece of our continued relationship with the Kraft Sports Group. Excerpts from the upcoming musical 'All Shook Up' took center stage along with the Loose Screws Tap Team, the Step Team, and some terrific solo acts. The outdoor stage is located near Bar Louie and Citizen Crust. The College will receive additional dates in the future which will be open to our entire community to display their talents...encore!

Fresh Check Day 2022!
On October 21st Dean College hosted the 5th annual Fresh Check Day event!
Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event for colleges that include interactive booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. Fresh Check Day provides students an opportunity to check in on their own mental health, connect with peers, learn new coping skills, recognize warning signs of distress and suicide as well as receive campus and community resources.
Fresh Check Day is sponsored by The Jordan Porco Foundation. The Porco Family began the foundation in 2011 following the death of their son Jordan, who died by suicide. The Mission of The Foundation is to prevent suicide, promote mental health, and create a message of hope for young adults.
We had a beautiful day for students to take part in this educational, uplifting mental health event! Students enjoyed the Friskie Fries food truck, hanging out with comfort dogs, Harlow and Ruger, all while taking part in fun activities and learning strategies for managing positive mental health. The campus is working together to support mental health initiatives and educate each other about help-seeking behaviors and resources. Student organizations and faculty and staff all contributed to making this event a success! GO BULLDOGS!
