Dear Oakcrest Parents,
I am writing to let you know that Meghan Hadley ’06, Dean of Students, will be leaving us at the end of June to join the leadership team of Camp Wojtyla, a Catholic outdoor adventure program nestled in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. As many of you know, Meghan led a group of Oakcrest students backpacking with Camp Wojtyla last summer and will take another group of Oakies this summer. Her love for nature and forming young people find a marvelous combination in this new opportunity and, while we will miss her very much, we are delighted for her.
Meghan has been a Dean of Students extraordinaire. With magnanimity and seemingly endless energy, she has shared with our school community her love for her alma mater and her gift for teaching and working with young people. In conversation with parents, faculty and students, she worked tirelessly to bring our school mission to life in and through the challenges that our students face as they navigate their growth into maturity. Meghan served as a member of the school administration where she brought her experience to bear on many important decisions regarding school life and culture.
A beloved history teacher with thirteen years of classroom experience, Meghan took on the role of Dean of Students four years ago and shaped so much of daily life and traditions at Oakcrest. She formed and led the team of faculty who serve as Class Deans and poured her energy every year into guiding the members of our Student Council. Always a loving and challenging teacher, she spent her days conversing with students on both serious and light topics. The hallway to her office was often blocked by students playing a game she had posted or simply waiting for a chat with Ms. Hadley. She co-created the Grade Level Experiences and launched each one of them with great care and depth. Meghan’s winning costumes during Spirit Week are just one of the many ways she shared her joy and enthusiasm.
As we send Meghan off with immense gratitude, we welcome Mrs. Liz Rolwes to this important role in our school. Liz, a proud alumna of Montrose, our sister school in Medfield, MA, and the mother of Patricia ’23, has devoted over twenty years to raising her six children. Liz and her husband, Larry, moved to Virginia two years ago. Liz graduated summa cum laude from the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She and her husband have been active leaders in the Family Enrichment program for years. Liz has taught theology at Oakcrest for two years. She brings a great love for the Oakcrest mission and for education. All who know her appreciate her strength of character and sense of humor. We are delighted to have her serve in this important role in our school.
Warm regards,
