The Graduate and Professional School awarded five Aviles-Johnson Fellowships and one Pathways to the Doctorate Fellowship to prospective graduate students in our College.

The Tom Slick Fellowship for current graduate students with outstanding research progress was awarded to Yasmin Quintana, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology.

ADVANCE Administrative Fellow: Congratulations to Juliana Rangel, Ph.D., who will be joining the administrative team as an ADVANCE Administrative Fellow for the fall 2022 and spring 2023 semesters. She will be developing federal grant proposals related to the support of Hispanic and other underrepresented students within the College. - We'd like to congratulate our recruiters, departments, advisors and friends of the College and thank them for helping us reach 1,938 admitted students into the College. Of those, 1035 have confirmed admissions.

Teaching
Dusty Menzies is an instructional assistant professor and assistant head for undergraduate programs in the Department of Agricultural Economics. Menzies has been employed at Texas A&M University for over 25 years, where he has been critical to major past initiatives like the First-Year Friendly Faculty and Critical Thinking Fellowship. Menzies also is a beloved mentor to his students. During his time at Texas A&M, he has taught over 3,000 students. He has developed and led study abroad programs to Ireland and Scotland and helped support and advise students in three organizations. Menzies also served as student section advisor to two national organizations and organized the section's participation in annual meetings during that time.
Research
Amir Ibrahim, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, project leader of the Small Grains Breeding Program, and wheat breeder with Texas A&M AgriLife Research. As part of the Texas Wheat Breeding Program, Ibrahim leads the College Station Center of Excellence, targeting Central Texas, South Texas and the Blacklands, with primary breeding objectives directed toward heat stress, leaf rust, stripe rust, stem rust and Hessian fly resistance. Ibrahim also leads Texas A&M AgriLife's portion of WheatCAP, which aims to create an unmanned aircraft system, UAS, data hub as a component of a $15 million USDA-NIFA grant. This grant brings together the strengths of the public wheat breeding programs in 19 universities across the U.S.
Service
Jennifer Wyle, lecturer and meat judging team coordinator in the Department of Animal Science, was recently awarded a Texas 4-H Salute to Excellence Award at the Texas 4-H Roundup on Tuesday, June 7. This award recognizes outstanding 4-H volunteers for their service to 4-H programs and the impact they have had on the lives of young people.
