Invitation to Global Climate Action High-Level Event at COP 24
On Tuesday, 4th December in the main plenary of the Katowice climate negotiations, the Global Climate Action High-Level Event will be taking place from 10am-11.30am.

The United Nations Secretary-General will be providing his perspective on Global Climate Action, after which, Dr. Mae Jemison (the first African American woman in space) will provide inspiring words.

The main body of the event will focus on two fireside-style conversations moderated by Bertrand Piccard which will include First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Dalmia Cement Managing Director and CEO Mahendra Singhi, ING CEO Ralph Hamers and Indigenous Leader Hindou Ibrahim.

The event will also feature announcements from the participants.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event!

More information on the Event is available in this concept note.
Invitation: Yearbook of Global Climate Action 2018 Event
The Yearbook 2018 event will take place on Thursday, 6 December, from 17.00-18.00 in room Lubelskie.

His Excellency Inia Seruiratu, High-Level Champion for Global Climate Action and Minister Defense and National Security of Fiji, will deliver opening remarks presenting the Yearbook 2018 edition and deliver its key messages to set the grounds for the speakers to build on.

In keeping with the dynamic Global Climate Action High-Level event breaking traditional formats, this event is envisaged as a talk show. Mr. Manuel Pulgar Vidal, Leader of WWF’s Climate & Energy Practice, will moderate this talk and prompt three key players of the Global Climate Action scene to explore and provide insights from particular angles, relevant to the messaging delivered by the Yearbook – also in the vein of ‘inclusive multilateralism’.

After these talks and a short moderated chat between the three speakers, the event will be closed by Special Envoy and High-Level Champion Tomasz Chruszczow of Poland, who will offer a summary of the talks within his remarks, as well as an introduction of the GCA schedule for the following days.

In the heart of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 24) in Katowice, Poland, Global Climate Action (GCA) is hosting a lively program of events, which will demonstrate how cities, regions, businesses investors, and civil society are working – in harmony with governments – to implement the Paris Agreement.

These events are all located around a cluster of venues, situated between the main entrance and the plenaries (see the full map below), which collectively act as a Global Climate Action campus. In total, there are three closed-door venues, which all converge on an open amphitheatre, called the Action Hub.
