Dear Families,

The holiday season is upon us! The season is busy! It comes with lots of excitement and sometimes a bit of stress...or a lot of stress! Children can get easily overstimulated with the lights, the hype, the crowds and so on! Find moments to connect with your child and to check in! Find moments of quietness to support managing the stress. What helps your child feel calm and organized? 1) Heavy work and using the muscles out in the snow? 2) Warm bath? 3) Reading a book under a cozy blanket? 4) Coloring? 5) Playing music? 6) Dimming the lights
Remember that "co-regulation" is key - so you have to find ways to take care of your stress level too and keep breathing - deeply! Maybe the entire family needs to get outside! Do it now before the bitter cold sets in! Create these opportunities during the next few weeks!

I hope joy and peace fill your homes this holiday season! Summer camp dates out earlier this year!! Is it too early to start dreaming of Summer? :) I hope not! Secure your child's spot soon! If more sessions are added, I will send an updated camp list with the changes!!

OTHER NEWS: I will have an OTD (Doctorate Level Occupational Therapy) student with me January -April 2023. Her name is Zola! I will also welcome several students for Summer as well!

WINTER SOLSTICE
Activity ideas...
  1. Dinner with candle light or battery tea lights.
  2. Enjoy a campfire outside.
  3. Make homemade bird feeders to encourage care for our bird friends.
  4. Go for a flashlight walk at dark.
  5. Share a family story with your child - a story about your Grandparents or Parents.
  6. Invite family members to share one thing in nature they are grateful for.


APPLE BIRD FEEDER
Supplies:
  • Peanut Butter
  • Bird Seed
  • 1 Large Apple
  • Yarn or String
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Cookie cutter
Instructions:
  1. Slice apple in half, then use a cookie cutter to cut out fun shapes!
  2. Dab apple slices with a paper towel to dry.
  3. Spread a layer of peanut butter on your apples slices.
  4. Pour some bird seed onto a plate and dip the apple slices, peanut butter side down, into the seeds.
  5. Thread a tapestry needle with the yarn or string and push it through the apples near the top. Tie a knot to secure.
  6. Tie onto a branch and let the birds feast!

NEW CLIENTS: If you have a recent OT evaluation (within last 6 months), evaluation fee is waived.

SUMMER PACKAGES: Because Summer can be busy, you have a choice between 10 session or 12 session packages. Frequency is dictated by need. We may service once per week, twice per week or more intensively 3x/week. Given we are "out of network" we can customize your child's therapeutic experience to meet the need.
