Native Plant Sale

September 16-17 & 23-24, 9:00-4:30

You're invited to shop our Fall Native Plant Sale! Held over two weekends, the event features more than 150 native species and is one of the largest native plant sales in our region.

Throughout the sale, the Museum’s knowledgeable horticulture staff will be on hand to answer your questions, discuss the benefits of native plants, and help with any particular gardening situations.

Butterfly Bonanza

Sunday, September 24, 9:00am-5:00pm

Come celebrate butterflies in all their forms! Play games like matching the caterpillar to its adult form and host plant, learn about the butterfly life cycle by making necklaces, and see collected butterflies from all across Virginia and the larger world.

Stargazing & Laser Nights

October 14, 6:00 pm

The Virginia Living Museum offers free stargazing beginning at sunset on the second Saturday of every month (weather dependent). Telescopes are set up on the grounds of the Museum, and staff astronomers are available to help you identify objects in the night sky.

Then, head into the planetarium for a program and laser show! (Shows are $5 for VLM members, $8 for non-members)

Night of the Living Museum

October 20-21 & 27-28, 5:30-8:30 pm

Family-friendly Halloween fun awaits! Come dressed in your Halloween best and explore the Museum after dark. Discover fun and games (and treats!) throughout the Museum’s galleries and Conservation Lawn. Enjoy a spooky dance party and spectacular animal encounters. Take in the Fright Lights Laser Show in the Planetarium (all access pass required). Explore the outdoor boardwalk and Dinosaur Discovery Trail after dark. And, don’t miss our fan favorite “Not the Mythbusters Science Show”, back by popular demand in the Amphitheater!

Timed tickets are required. Children ages 2 and under are free. Each party must include one adult 18 years or older.

Advance tickets are $12 for members/$17 for non-members.

All-access passes are $15 for members/$23 for non-members and include the Fright Lights laser show.

Tickets increase the day of each event to $15 ($18 all-access) for members / $20 ($26 all-access) for non-members.
