Dear Ellen Dee:
I'm terribly worried about my colleague "JoJo" and I'm hoping you have some advice. Normally, a joyful and productive member of our professional community, JoJo hasn't been herself as of late. She keeps muttering about a recent episode of the Hidden Brain podcast on " Bullsh$t Jobs " and she's been spending more and more time at her desk creating cat memes and playing solitaire (see exhibit A below).

Last weekend she invited our team over for a viewing of "Office Space" and served us cold pizza and Bud Light on ice. She just seems to have lost her spunk and her sparkle.

Sincerely,

A Concerned Colleague
Dear Concerned Colleague,

You had us at cat memes. This (not to mention the Bud Light on ice) is indeed a clear warning sign that your colleague has lost her way. It can happen to the best of us - not just corporate lawyers. We can all fall into patterns where we feel disconnected from our work and we become frustrated and lackluster. But L+D has just the cure.

The Santa Fe Seminar is all about reconnecting with the joy and purpose in our work. It's about sustaining our passions and crafting an intentional direction. It's an opportunity to step out from the busy-ness of our school lives and design better versions of ourselves. We hope "JoJo" might come this November - and, in a pro-active move, you can join her too. Santa Fe is a great way for every school leader to find more joyful ways to engage in the work! And you can check out other life/work affirming programs below as well.

Sincerely,

L+D (although we rather liked being addressed as "Ellen Dee" - quite clever!)
