Summertime in the Philippines is from March through May. School is out until first week of June. This also coincides with their dry season, with very little rain recorded. This is when we schedule and conduct our summer youth camps. In this COLD WATER, we highlight the first one conducted in 2023, in the west central parts of Mindanao. This area is also the most dangerous, as it also is where the majority of Muslims live. For decades, this area is where military operations and warfare have taken place against rogue terrorists, Communist insurgents and Muslim rebels. As a child growing up not far from where this youth camp was conducted, my wife Ethel and her family were forced to evacuate to other islands for two years due to the fighting in and around her hometown of Magsaysay. That’s why I’m especially pleased to share this good report with you this month!
Here’s a portion of the youth who attended our Regional Youth Camp conducted from April 5-7. Our Regional Director told me that more than 200 youth attended this camp. Your support helps us reach these kids for Jesus.
There was a powerful move of the Holy Spirit in this event, with many youth being saved or sanctified for service in the army of the Lord.
Lives were changed, bodies healed and sins forgiven in this great Regional Youth Camp.
Skits and drama were presented depicting spiritual and scriptural truths to compel our youth to get serious about serving the Lord in these last days.
Time was also given to let graduates from our Bible school testify and encourage attending youth to pray about enrolling next trimester, which begins in June.
During the opening evening, a bonfire was built to symbolize our Christian light to the world of darkness all around.
Here are many of the church leaders who ran the camp and oversaw the services and activities, holding up their torches to signify our intent to light fires of passion in the hearts of these youth.
So many young people were ministered to, encouraged and blessed by the moving of the Holy Spirit. Your support to MKMI enables us to help underwrite these conferences and camps for Jesus.
My newest book, entitled CROSSING OVER, is now available for sale. Those who have obtained a copy have been telling me what a great blessing it is. Call our office to order one for yourself, and additional copies for friends. If you prefer, you can get the e-book through Amazon (Kindle), Barnes and Noble (NOOK), iTunes (iBook), or KOBO.
Overall Ministry:
Financial Support. Agree with us for steady and sufficient monthly income to run the ministry and continue all avenues of outreach without interruption. We’re feeding on God’s faithfulness (Psalms 37:3). As our COLD-WATER newsletters indicate, we’re busy on many fronts, sharing the gospel with young and old alike. Your support enables us to send our teams wherever the Holy Spirit leads.

In the Philippines:
Fruitful Outreaches. Our churches continue to obey the Great Commission of Mark 16:15-18. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Many salvations and re-dedications are taking place.
Guidance with disaster relief. Construction is underway in several places where last December’s flooding did such damage to homes and churches. Expect good reports in coming issues of COLD-WATER.

Ethel and I want you to know how important you are to the on-going work of MKMI in the Philippines, and around the world. We are presently in a good position financially and expect that to be the case as we start the year 2023. We believe we’ll get back overseas to our sons and daughters as soon as possible, but wherever we are, we know we have got partners like you to lean on. Since 1980, I have gone wherever God leads me, and now our staff, students, graduates and churches reproduce that same effort in the Philippines. Your prayers and financial support enables us to do all of this. Thank you!
Here are some of our students with articles of personal hygiene given by their sponsors. You can be a sponsor for a student like these here, investing in their training and sharing in their
successes in ministry.

The cost of educating our students falls mainly upon the MKMI ministry. The students are charged tuition, but the actual budget for housing, feeding and educating them is much more than their tuition can cover. That’s why sponsorship becomes so vital. If you would like to sponsor one or more of our current or future students, the total cost to underwrite one of them is $95 monthly, or $855 annually (for nine months of study – vacation time excluded). This covers everything we need to provide for them. And remember, your gifts are always tax-deductible.
Here are students taking my final exam just a few weeks ago for my class on Eschatology. Some of them graduate after this course, but others continue on until they have taken all required courses.
In my opinion, after spending over 4 decades traveling and ministering throughout the Philippines, I believe our Rhema Bible Training Center is one of the best Bible schools in the country to train Filipinos for successful ministry. I’m sure there are other good schools out there, but I know ours is committed to seeing these students prepared for success, because the harvest field is so great and ripe here. To do that we need missions-minded Christians to step up and help us with student sponsorship. Would you pray about becoming a monthly sponsor for one or more of our Bible school students? Classes resume the first week of June, so we’re putting the word out now, believing God will provide enough sponsors for 35 students. If this is something you feel led to help us with, be sure to designate Bible school sponsorship when sending us your support. We will then assign one of our new students to you, with picture and bio so you can establish communication with him or her.
Our students are challenged with courses that are not easy to pass. We do this purposely, to prepare them for real-world ministry in these last days. Can you help us train more students like this?

Surely he will never be shaken; the righteous will be in everlasting remembrance. He will not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established; he will not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies. Psalms 112:6-8
Every day, the anti-Christian doom and gloom propaganda (aka network news) gets worse and worse, yet God’s word to us is the same as it has always been: Don’t be shaken. Don’t be afraid. Be steadfast and steady in faith, trusting Him. If God be for us, nobody can be against us (Romans 8:31-39). God declares us to be more than conquerors through Him who loves us, no matter what happens today or any day after. Keep your eyes on God and His word and nothing else. He will take good care of you. Remember Esther 4:14. We were born for such a time as this!
