Helping the Flood Victims

As we told you about in January’s COLD WATER, thousands of people in our part of the Philippines have experienced torrential rains and flooding in the past two months. Not only were houses washed away, destroyed or heavily damaged, but vital roads and bridges were made impassable as well. We are continuing to search and discover the needs that are most pressing, and with God’s guidance, will continue to offer both short-term relief and long-term assistance to fix, rebuild or strengthen area churches and homes.

On Christmas Day, this was the flooded road in front of our Compound, a portion of which you see on the right side of this picture.

Philippine cobra snakes are abundant in the rice fields. When the field across the street overflowed and flooded our compound, this one was swept into our compound, and caught by our staff.

Here is our staff and students organizing the boxes and bags of relief goods, which we took to many victims of this terrible flooding.

In the field to distribute, we saw so much destruction. Here members of our staff stand next to what was once someone’s home.

As you can see, this home sat right next to the river, and was completed destroyed by the force of the raging water.

Our staff stands on the one bridge connecting the village of Tolyok to the city of Oroquieta. We’ve conducted crusades in Tolyok twice, and now have a church there.

The flooded river destroyed the far end of the Tolyok bridge, cutting off transportation for all those living in that village. Here workers are building a temporary bridge so at least pedestrians can pass.

Thank you for all those who have responded in prayer and financial support. We are so grateful. The needs are still great, so if you have it in your heart to continue to send financial assistance, we thank you and praise God in advance! In the “THOSE WHO GO” segment below, you can help by clicking on the MAKE A DONATION tab, then selecting DISASTER RELIEF in the options indicated. We will continue to update you on our progress and results in these monthly COLD WATER newsletters.

My newest book, entitled CROSSING OVER, is being produced now, and will be available very soon. We thank you for your support that makes these books possible.

Overall Ministry:

Financial Support. Agree with us for steady and sufficient monthly income to run the ministry and continue all avenues of outreach without interruption. We’re feeding on God’s faithfulness (Psalms 37:3). As our COLD-WATER newsletters indicate, we’re busy on many fronts, sharing the gospel with young and old alike. Your support enables us to send our teams wherever the Holy Spirit leads.

In the Philippines:

Fruitful Outreaches. Our churches continue to obey the Great Commission of Mark 16:15-18. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Many salvations and re-dedications are taking place.

Guidance with disaster relief. Pray with us, that we will be excellent stewards of the monies sent in to help us help those affected by the heavy flooding and rain these past two months.

Ethel and I want you to know how important you are to the on-going work of MKMI in the Philippines, and around the world. We are presently in a good position financially and expect that to be the case as we start the year 2023. We believe we’ll get back overseas to our sons and daughters as soon as possible, but wherever we are, we know we have got partners like you to lean on. Since 1980, I have gone wherever God leads me, and now our staff, students, graduates and churches reproduce that same effort in the Philippines. Your prayers and financial support enables us to do all of this. Thank you!

RHEMA PHILIPPINES IS TAKING APPLICATIONS

Rhema Bible Training Center is aggressively seeking Christians who are called to do something significant for Jesus with their lives in these last days. This is the Bible school that trained and prepared me before I was sent to the Philippines in 1980. What I learned provided me with the knowledge and foundation for success in ministry. The good news is that our RBTC school in Ozamiz City is available to do the same teaching and training for Filipinos. This school will elevate your abilities to serve Jesus with excellence. This school prepares you for success as an Ambassador of Christ. Contact us for all the details, and how you can enroll in our next trimester of teaching. Contact info: Rev. Cheryl Carbajosa, School Director @ 09382071739, or Rev. Emmie Cabanag, School Administrator @ 09127609333.

So David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper, and took the things and went as Jesse had commanded him. And David left his supplies in the hand of the supply keeper, ran to the army, and came and greeted his brothers.1 Samuel 17:20,22.

David killing the giant Goliath is a well-known Bible story that has been told and retold thousands of times in churches and Bible study groups worldwide. In the body of Christ, everybody knows what David did, but almost no one knows about the two critical support personnel that made this tremendous victory possible. They are unnamed and, except for these two verses, are never heard from again in the Scriptures. The sheep keeper, and the supply keeper. We don’t know who they were, or are, but God does. On the day David is called up to receive the reward for throwing the stone, killing Goliath and delivering the nation of Israel from certain military defeat, these two will stand with him, and get the same reward David gets. Why? Because there are no super-stars in God’s army. From the Old Testament through the New Testament, no matter who we are or where we do business for God, everybody needs everybody else. The Great Commission

(Mark 16:15-18) is a team effort. As it says in Ephesians 4:16, “every joint” should supply, and “every part” should do its share, if the body of Christ is to function at peak capacity and effectiveness. 1 Corinthians chapter 12 says the same thing in great detail. You’re important to God. He needs you to do what you’re told to do, where you’re told to do it. No act of obedience is ever insignificant. For every “stone thrower” there are countless “sheep-keepers” and “supply keepers” who are just as needed and necessary. Don’t try to be somebody else. Be you, because nobody is like you, and the Lord knows nobody can do what you’re commissioned to do as good as you – that’s why He put you where you are, born for such a time as this (Esther 4:14).
