We have great news to share in this month’s newsletter. Ethel’s August trip to the Philippines was successful in every way. As you may know, we’ve refused to travel anywhere internationally until all those draconian and unnecessary COVID mandates were removed.

After more than 3 years of standing in faith for this, I’m happy to report that just 2 weeks before Ethel was to depart for the Philippines, the President of the Philippines removed all travel restrictions for international travelers.

We had booked these flights months ahead of time, believing for God to intervene as their departure date approached – and He did! Praise the Lord! Ethel and her team were able to enter and leave the country with absolutely no problems or delays whatsoever. They were also able to travel domestically inside the country freely, with no hassles, or obstructions whatsoever.

First of all, thank you all for praying for her travels to and from our base of operations in Ozamiz City. Second, we thank you for your financial support, which made this trip possible.

Here is Ethel and Jennifer Popowich, our National Children’s Outreach Director, in the Los Angeles airport, preparing to fly across the Pacific ocean to the Philippines.

Crusades were conducted during their time there. Here is Ethel sharing the salvation message with local residents in a village called Cebulin.

Part of the training for our Bible school students is active participation in our outreach crusades. Here is one of our 1st year students, exhorting people to receive salvation.

Here is the village “captain”, addressing her local residents, endorsing our ministry, and encouraging everyone to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

And while the adults hear the gospel inside the gymnasium, Jennifer is reaching the children outside, using the elementary school building nearby.

Our ministry also sponsored a giant youth concert in Tangub City, about 12 miles away from our compound headquarters. Here are all the workers, singers and musicians who participated in this giant outreach event.

This was the result. Over 3,000 youth attended, praising God with all their might. Only God knows how many unbelievers attended and got saved. Even if there was only one, this giant effort was worth it all.

Your support of MKMI enables us to conduct outreach events like this. These youth represent the next generation of leadership in the body Christ. You’re investing in their lives and ministries.

During the concert, we had our recruiting table set up, encouraging people to pray about coming to our Bible school.

We worked with four or five youth bands to hold this event. Youth leaders and their bands came from other islands to participate in this concert. MKMI was the major financial sponsor for this event.

The last big event conducted before Ethel and Jennifer left the country, was to hold an Alumni reunion for all graduates from our Bible schools, starting with SCHOOL OF THE BIBLE (SOTB), then STRONGMAN BIBLE INSTITUTE (SBI), and now RHEMA BIBLE TRAINING COLLEGE (RBTC).

Teaching sessions were held while our alumni were with us, encouraging them to stay in the fight and never quit or give up.

One of the group photos taken during our Alumni gathering. Many of these graduates hadn’t seen their fellow students in many years. It was very gratifying to see graduates from all three of our Bible schools come together for fellowship.

Overall Ministry:

Financial Support. Agree with us for steady and sufficient monthly income to run the ministry and continue all avenues of outreach without interruption. We’re feeding on God’s faithfulness (Psalms 37:3). As our COLD-WATER newsletters indicate, we’re busy on many fronts, sharing the gospel with young and old alike. Your support enables us to send our teams wherever the Holy Spirit leads.

In the Philippines:

Our Return Trips: Our next scheduled trip to the Philippines will be in January 2024. Agree with us for the money to pay for our travel, and for the work we intend to accomplish for the Lord during this next ministry trip. Expect more details about this in upcoming COLD WATER newsletters.

Ethel and I want you to know how important you are to the ongoing work of MKMI in the Philippines, and around the world. We are presently in a good position financially and expect that to be the case as we move through the year 2023. We believe we’ll get back overseas to our sons and daughters as soon as possible, but wherever we are, we know we have got partners like you to lean on.

Since 1980, I have gone wherever God leads me, and now our staff, students, graduates and churches reproduce that same effort in the Philippines. Your prayers and financial support enables us to do all of this. Thank you!

The cost of educating our students falls mainly upon the MKMI ministry. The students are charged tuition, but the actual budget for housing, feeding and educating them is much more than their tuition can cover. That’s why sponsorship has become so vital. If you would like to sponsor one or more of our current or future students, the total cost to underwrite one of them is $95 monthly, or $855 annually (for nine months of study – vacation time excluded). This covers everything we need to provide for them. And remember, your gifts are always tax-deductible.

We’re believing God will provide sponsors for 35 students. If this is something you feel led to help us with, be sure to designate “Sponsor a Student” from the drop down menu when clicking the link below for online contributions. We will then assign one of our new students to you, with a picture and bio so you can know who it is that you’re supporting.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplications, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippines 4:6

In this one verse, God boils everything down to one simple set of instructions. Don’t worry about anything, but instead, pray about everything. Worry will never change the situation we worry about, so why worry? Worry is just fear in another form, and fear is nothing more than the belief that one or more of God’s promises will fail us in our times of need.

As such, never forget that worry is a sin, just as much as anything else categorized as sin in the Word of God. On the other hand, we’re told to exchange the worry with prayer and thanksgiving. Prayer changes things that nothing else can change. It’s the most potent force on planet earth. Satan fears a praying Christian more than anything else. Prayer moves mountains (Mark 11:22-24).

So make up your mind to remove all worry and fear from your life, and replace all of that wasted energy with faithful, expectant prayer. Fill your heart, mind and mouth with prayers of praise and thanksgiving. Psalms 22:3 tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people, and is enthroned in our lives when we pray this way.

Don’t worry about anything. Give your life over to God, and start filling your day with constant adoration, worship, praise and prayer to God. The more you do this, the easier it will be to crush any temptation to worry about the past, present or future. If God be for you, nobody can stand against you, especially the devil (Romans 8:31-39).
