WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?

Why Are There So Many Republicans on My Ballot?

In many races this year, including Central Committee, there are about twice as many candidates as there are spots to fill here in Santa Clara County, and indeed in many counties throughout the state.

This is because there are two completely different teams competing to fill the vacancies on your Republican Central Committee. Who are these two teams? How are they different?

But first, what is a Republican Central Committee? It is your local representation to the state party, CAGOP. The Central Committee is supposed to rally local Republicans, represent our party to the public, encourage more people to join the Republican party, work diligently to recruit & support conservative candidates for election to all local offices, monitor and publicize legislation while pushing back on bad legislation, and fundraise to help make all of this happen. It takes a dedicated team with strong, determined leadership.

One team on your ballot is made up of “establishment” Republicans. They’ve been in power for over a dozen years, watching as Republican voter registration dropped by over 6%, and don’t feel the need to recruit candidates for school board or city council, only running undeveloped partisan candidates in unviable races, when the last Republican elected to partisan office was decades ago. Content to not make any waves, they seem happy ruling over the ashes of a party that is ready to crash and burn.

The other team goes by a different set of adjectives; grassroots, America First patriots, traditional Republicans. They’re determined to regrow the party, to take a seat at the city council table, to populate every school board in the area, while developing candidates to be elected to higher partisan offices, eventually sending party representatives to Sacramento and then DC. Undeterred by being labelled MAGA terrorists, they will redefine the Republican party, growing it into a vibrant, welcoming group for those who believe in the American family and the American dream.

If you want to fundamentally change the local Republican party, here’s the voter guide for you:

DID YOU KNOW...?

Ballots returned using the envelopes provided are personally handled and viewed by several people before your selections are actually tallied? There is no way for you to confirm that your votes were captured correctly, only that your ballot (envelope) was received.

WHEN & WHERE SHOULD YOU VOTE?

If possible, vote IN PERSON at a Vote Center or the Registrar of Voters on or close to Election Day. Request a paper ballot, mark your choices with blue/black ball point pen and feed the ballot into the scanner yourself. That way there is a paper trail and you can personally verify that all of your choices were captured correctly!
