Greetings!

Winter's temperatures have arrived a bit early this year, so we have arranged for some programs that can warm you up, one way or the other.
Presented by the KOLO Klub Staff

KOLO Klub is one of Hudson County's most popular spaces for gatherings of all kinds…weddings, dinners, parties and receptions, or business and corporate meetings. They are well known for their imaginative cocktail bar and -- during these spirited sessions -- they will share some of their secrets for delicious craft cocktails. Everyone is invited.

Future sessions will also be held on Wednesday evenings, and if you want to attend, just follow these links:

(finally back) in the Hoboken Library
and on Zoom!
Wednesday, November 10, at 10 am

November is our return to in-person art at the Hoboken Public Library. It will also start our new collaboration with our professional model. These two things have inspired art teacher, Liz Ndoye, to make November our “Return to Our Basics” month.

Our theme will be to refresh ourselves. Ndoye wants to re-introduce life drawing. She believes that this will re-inspire our artistic enthusiasm and energy, and continue to build on our growing and improving observational and drawing skills.

In this, our second class of the month, the artist of focus will be on Amy Sherald. Sherald has become famous since her portrait of First Lady Michelle Obama and is a master of figurative drawing and painting. Looking at her work will again help you master your own sense of proportion and figuration. We will work from life and start out with gesture drawings. Ndoye will teach techniques of shading and how to build volume in the figure. This will be followed by long poses in which you can make more finished images of the model.
In-House Meeting to Discuss Future Trips
Wednesday, November 10, at 1 pm
The Large Programming Room

Are you up for it? We’re looking to expand our group of adventurous adults who enjoy touring unusual destinations in New York City. We’ve already “done” the 42nd Street Library, Morgan Library, Grand Central Station, and a foray up to Woodlawn Cemetery. (Well, come on; there are a lot of authors there: Herman Melville, Dorothy Parker, E.L. Doctorow, etc.) In the colder months we have lectures and games!

We will meet in the Large Programming room of the Library’s Main Branch. The discussion will focus on organizing upcoming events, enjoying each other’s company, and welcoming new members.
About November 16
Two important things are happening that Tuesday:
We are holding our Annual Staff Development Day, so all Library Facilities -- the Main Branch, the Grand Street Branch, and the Lerning Center -- will be closed. BUT, our online services at HobokenLibrary.org -- ordering books and materials, downloading and streaming services, and a wealth of research sites -- are always available to you, 24/7.

The other event is the Board of Trustee's Monthly Business Meeting. It's held by Zoom, so you can attend right from home (or from your phone). There are Public Comment Sessions when you can feel free to speak up if you have a comment about the Library.
We wish you all the best.
