Greetings! Happy Fall! We hope you enjoy reading our news about the Child Reintegration Centre and Mercy Hospital. As of September, the Sierra Leonean government has lifted most COVID-related restrictions, although gatherings are still limited to fewer than 100 people. Sierra Leone has reported 2,183 cases of COVID with 72 deaths. Restrictions on movement and commerce caused a steep increase in food insecurity, which the CRC and Mercy are addressing through outreach and increased support. More than ever, we are grateful for your support, which enables us to provide critical help to vulnerable children and families.

Family Reunification Workshop HCW Assistant Director Mohamed Nabieu (Nabs) is traveling to Sierra Leone and will be present for the Family Reunification Workshop, a collaborative effort of the CRC, HCW and 1MillionHome (1MH.) Orphanage leaders from Bo, Makeni, Kenema, and Pujehun will learn the importance of children growing up in families, the basics of transitioning from a residential model to family-based programs, and will be invited to join a community to share best practices in the care of orphans and vulnerable children. Opening remarks at the conference will be made by Patrick Bangura, the Bo representative of the Ministry of Gender and Children's Affairs, and the keynote speaker will be the Honorable Manty Tarawalli, Minister of Gender and Children's Affairs for Sierra Leone.

Carry the Light While Nabs is in Sierra Leone, he will join the CRC and Mercy for a special "Carry the Light" ceremony to honor Bishop Yambasu and ensure that his mission to "reach across the ocean for the love of God's children" continues. (Read these moving tributes to Bishop Yambasu.

Thank you for continuing to walk with us to rescue children and families from extreme poverty, so they can reach their God-given potential.
The Child Reintegration Centre delivers food to vulnerable families dealing with COVID impact
Several Child Reintegration Centre case managers traveled to Manguama village to distribute food to families that have been made more vulnerable by the economic slowdown affecting the entire nation. Manguama is one of the villages served by Mercy Hospital's medical outreach teams, and is also home to ten Child Reintegration Centre students. These families, who are among the most marginal in a predominantly poor population, have been struggling severely, as markets were closed and movement restricted to prevent the spread of COVID.   Read more

It's not too late to share the joy of Christmas with CRC students
We are still accepting donations for the CRC's annual Christmas party for all the students. Doesn't matter whether you sponsor a student or just want to share the joy, you can still make Christmas a special time for vulnerable children and youth. The annual party features a festive lunch, social time, music, and a Nativity play put on by the students themselves. Donate by clicking the green button below.
Let us run the race marked out for us

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles.

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith."

Hebrews 12:1-2
