Welcome to our new quarterly newsletter.
Greetings!
Each quarter will feature the latest new reports and resources from our policy team grounded in the field-based practice of our colleagues who work daily to provide services to families experiencing homelessness—from case management and employment training to early childhood education and afterschool/recreation. As often as possible, we will amplify the voices of the parents, children, and youth whose lived experience informs all of our work.

We are especially interested in continuing the two-way communication that has always been at the heart of our work and will debut a What’s Happening In Our Network feature to highlight the innovative and replicable work that you are doing not only in NYC but across the country. Please email us at INFO@ICPHusa.org with your ideas. We look forward to hearing from you.

Daily DHS Census Report: Weekly Graphs
After a two-year decline, the number of families with children in NYC's DHS shelters stabilized this past summer. It is now uncertain what the future holds, and whether this is a lasting decrease, or just a temporary one. In this new year with a new mayoral administration, keep up with the developments at ICPHusa.org, in real time, where we will post a weekly updated graph depicting the number of families with children in NYC's DHS shelters. See the report from January 24 below.
New Policy Resources
The policy team’s latest snapshot examines the experience of parents at HFH shelters whose children returned to in-person schooling in the fall of 2022 after a year+ of remote or blended learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Returning to school buildings brought benefits to learning, but also created anxieties around COVID-19 infection and challenges around commuting from shelter to school.
