Greetings!
My heart is overflowing. In the span of less than 24 hours, I participated in four different Soroptimist International of Chico events. On Friday, the Dream It, Be It committee met at La Comida to continue our planning with SI Bidwell Rancho for the upcoming one-day conference. Dream It, Be It is a Soroptimist International of the Americas’ signature program offering career and mentorship support to high school girls. We are very excited to offer this as a one-day program for the first time in this area. We are reaching out to all area high schools to spread the word.
Later that same day, I joined Sandi Decker for Salvation Army bell ringing in front of Hobby Lobby. Sandi brought us fun hats and we chatted the entire time. Big thanks to Sue Bechtol for relieving me at 4 pm, so that I could head over to the next event. Our December Getting to Know Us was held at the Allies Pub on the patio over a tabletop fire. We had three prospective members attend to learn more about our club and our mission.
Early Saturday morning (a little too early for some) the newly formed President’s Project ad hoc committee met to begin planning the evening event the night before the Dream It, Be It conference. This live evening event is designed to connect female leaders in the community to the 20-something women who need mentorship. We selected a name for the event: “Believe to Achieve. She believed she could, so she did.” Plans are underway to make this event happen. It’s going to be great!
The dates to put on the calendar are Friday, April 8 for Believe to Achieve and Saturday, April 9 for Dream It, Be It.
We have one more program this year, and then we will go dark until the business meeting on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. I hope all of you enjoy some time off with family and friends. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
See you Wednesday,
President Sara
