'There shall come forth a Rod

from the stem of Jesse,

And a Branch shall grow

out of his roots.

The Spirit of the LORD

shall rest upon Him,

The Spirit of wisdom

and understanding,

The Spirit of counsel and

might,

The Spirit of knowledge and

of the fear of the LORD.

His delight is in the

fear of the LORD'

Isaiah 11:1-3

Why did Jesus have to come? Go back and read the Creation story, and you will see how man fell away from God and started believing the Enemy. We were separated from God by sin. Separated from His presence by deception and disobedience. But God so loved the world (John 3:16) that Jesus came to make a way for us to walk in God's presence once again; to receive salvation from a perfect Savior and walk with God through the power of the Holy Spirit. That Spirit brings us wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord. God wouldn't leave us a mess... He came to bring us back to himself.

Camp Deerpark would like to celebrate the coming of Jesus with your this advent season! Each day until Christmas, we'll send out a photo, verse, and short devotional. If you're not on the list, you can sign up here or check an archive of previous days. If you feel inspired, please share this with a friend or family member.
