Holiday Schedule

The Library will close at 3:00pm on Friday, December 15th, for a staff meeting. We will reopen on Saturday, December 16th.

The Library will be closed on Monday, December 25th, in observance of the Christmas Holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, December 26th.

Don’t forget, you can always use our outdoor tables and free wifi, and you can access our digital collection from home any time!

Gifts of Comfort & Joy

The annual gift drive to benefit East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) to assist local families in need runs through Saturday, December 9th, to allow for distribution in time for the holidays.


EBCAP suggests the following types of gifts.

Items requested for babies and children: 

  • Onesies
  • Pajamas (size newborn to child 6X)
  • Socks
  • Hats
  • Mittens
  • Disposable diapers
  • Coats
  • Boots
  • Soft books and board books
  • Family centered and non-electronic games, such as Sorry, Connect4, Chutes & Ladders, Bananagrams, Candyland, Yahtzee, Go Fish, Uno
  • Children's puzzles

Items requested for teens: 

  • Adult-sized hooded sweatshirts and sweatpants
  • Sleeping bags
  • Footballs, soccer balls, and basketballs

All donations must be NEW and UNWRAPPED please. A collection box is located in the lobby of the Tiverton Public Library. 

Penguin Plunge

The Tiverton Yacht Club is sponsoring its 12th Annual Penguin Plunge at Grinnell's Beach on Monday, January 1st, 2024. The public is invited to gather on the beach around 11:45am and take the plunge into the Sakonnet River at noon. As in previous years, the Penguin Plunge supports the Tiverton Public Library through donations from participants and supporters who watch the event from the shore.


Though not required for participation, penguins are encouraged to obtain library donations in advance. Pledge forms will be available at the Tiverton Public Library on 34 Roosevelt Avenue or by clicking the button below.

Take the Plunge

All pledge forms and donations should be brought to the beach at the time of the event, and donations in any amount are appreciated. Please make checks payable to Tiverton Library Foundation. All contributions are tax-deductible.

Winter Watercolor Exhibit at Town Hall

Our Weekly Watercolor Group will have a special display of winter scenes this December at the Tiverton Town Hall. Stop by and check it out!

 

The Watercolor Group meets in the Community Room every Tuesday from 12:30 to 2:30pm. New members are welcome to come work on your own paintings while chatting with fellow watercolor enthusiasts. Participants must bring their own projects and supplies.

Poetry Workshop

Movie Night: A Man Called Otto

Join us for a free movie, popcorn, and drinks every month.



This month, we will show A Man Called Otto (2022; Rated PG-13; 2h 6min). Otto is a grump who's given up on life following the loss of his wife and wants to end it all. When a young family moves in nearby, he meets his match in quick-witted Marisol, leading to a friendship that will turn his world around. Based on the novel A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman.
