The Libraries will be open during the two-week pause. Stock up on books, movies, music, and kids' activities!

The Tiverton Public Library is open:
  • Monday-Thursday: 10:00am-8:00pm
  • Friday: 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm

The Union Public Library is open:
  • Tuesday: 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Saturday: 10:00am-1:00pm
In order to keep everyone safe, we ask that patrons limit their visits to the Library to 30 minutes, or call 401-625-6796 and take advantage of our outdoor pick-up options whenever possible.

You can always access ebooks and audiobooks on the Ocean State Libraries eZone!
Holiday Schedule
December 18th: The Library will close early at 3:00pm for our annual staff meeting.
December 24th-25th: The Library will close at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 24th, and remain closed through Friday, December 25th, in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will reopen on Saturday, December 26th.
December 31st-January 1st: The Library will close at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 31st, and remain closed through Friday, January 1st, in observance of the New Years holiday. We will reopen on Saturday, January 2nd.

Collecting Gifts of Comfort and Joy
Friends Collection Box
Now Through Saturday, December 5th

The Friends of Tiverton Libraries is seeking new and unwrapped gifts of:
  • Kids books (infants to age 10)
  • Easy board games, like Sorry, Connect 4, Bananagrams, Chutes & Ladders, Yahtzee, and Checkers
  • Simple card games, like Uno, Fish, Concentration, and Sleeping Queens
  • Children’s puzzles
  • Onesies & PJs (newborn to 6x)
  • Socks
  • Mittens
  • Hats
  • Disposable diapers

Collection will be accepted at the Tiverton Public Library until Saturday, December 5th, and will benefit the East Bay Community Action Program in Support of WIC and Healthy Families America.

Starting in December, Adult Services is offering free craft take-out! 

This month’s take-out kit contains the materials you need to make colored pine cones for a beautiful winter decoration. Ask for a kit at the Information Desk or call 401-625-6796 to order a kit for porch pick-up. Available while supplies last. 

If you live in a senior housing community and would like to do this craft with other residents in your community, please contact Deb at or 401-625-6796 x121 to place a bulk order of free craft kits delivered to your community!
Creating a Pollinator Friendly Garden with Native Plants
Monday, December 7th, 6:30-7:30pm, via Zoom

This presentation will discuss practices for using native plants to create a healthy, diverse ecosystem in your backyard; the importance of providing habitat and food sources for pollinators; and some practical garden design principles. Presented by URI Master Gardener Richard Dalidowitz.

Playful Pause Activities for Kids
Playful Pause Packs, filled with paper crafts and activities, will be available starting December 3rd in the Children's Room. Stop by and grab a bag.

Bags will also be available outside the Children's Activity Room door on Friday, December 4th, between 2:00 and 4:30pm, and Saturday, December 5th, between 10:00am and 1:00pm.

Monday, December 7th, and Monday, December 14th, 10:00am-2:00pm
Fun for families with kids ages 2–7
Join us on select Mondays for a stroll around the library. We have put the pages of a picture book up outside the library. Take a walk around the building and read along any time between 10:00am and 2:00pm. At the end of your walk, ring the Children’s Activity Room doorbell to wave hello to Mr. Monkey and pick up a project to take home.

A Very Merry Storytime Stroll

Fun for families with kids ages 3–9
Begin your holiday reading adventure any time between 10:00am and 2:00pm. To participate, walk around the outside of the Library and read the pages of the Christmas book we have posted up around the building. At the end of your walk, stop by the Children’s Room outer door to pick up a festive treat.
