Holiday Closings

December 17th: The Library will close early at 3:00pm for our annual staff meeting.
December 24th-27th: The Library will close at 1:00pm on Friday, December 24th, and remain closed through Monday, December 27th, in observance of the Christmas holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, December 28th.
December 31st-January 3rd: The Library will close at 1:00pm on Friday, December 31st, and remain closed through Monday, January 3rd, in observance of the New Years holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, January 4th.

"Give-A-Book" to Support the Library!

The Give-A-Book program is the perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays as well as a special way to honor loved ones.

Your donation will be acknowledged in both a virtual book plate on our website as well as a physical book plate in the purchased book. Tell us if you would like the book plate to list your name or the name of someone you are honoring or remembering.
The Tiverton Library Foundation is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help support the operational and capital needs of the Tiverton Public Library. Donations are tax-exempt to the full extent of the law.
Collecting Gifts of Comfort & Joy

Friends of Tiverton Libraries is sponsoring a holiday gift drive to benefit East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP). We are collecting items through December 11th to allow for distribution by EBCAP to families in need.

Items requested (NEW and UNWRAPPED please):

  • Children's books (infants to age 10)
  • Easy board games, such as Sorry, Connect4, Bananagrams, Chutes & Ladders, Yahtzee, and Checkers
  • Simple card games, like Uno and Fish
  • Children's puzzles
  • Onesies and pajamas (newborn to 6X), socks, mittens, hats, coats (infants to 6X)
  • Children's boots
  • Disposable diapers

The collection deadline is December 11th. Thank you!
Save the Date! Penguin Plunge 2022
The Tiverton Yacht Club is once again sponsoring a Penguin Plunge on New Year’s Day. All proceeds will benefit the Tiverton Public Library!

Those who wish to participate may click the button below to download a pledge form and meet us at Grinnell's Beach 12:00pm on January 1st. Coastal Roasters will supply the coffee!

Knitters, quilters, and crafters: come craft with us in the Community Room on the first Wednesday of every month! Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro, you are welcome to come and work on your own projects while socializing with fellow enthusiasts. Get project ideas, ask questions, and share tips and advice. Must bring your own equipment and supplies.

American Sign Language Meet-Up

Drop in the Learning Center on the first Monday of every month to practice American Sign Language. Learn about ASL resources, learn new signs, and practice what you've learned with adults of all abilities!
Living Literature Presents Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore

Reading Across RI 2020 chose Rising: Dispatches from the New American Shore, by Elizabeth Rush, for its statewide read, and Living Literature again created a presentation to supplement the reading experience for this signature program of the Rhode Island Center for the Book. Two performers will recreate the voices and events of this non-fiction book in a 45-minute readers’ theatre experience.
Total Healing: The Meditation Prescription

What can meditation do for you? In this presentation, Dr. Alan Post will present the latest medical and scientific data regarding meditation and the prevention and treatment of many disease states. These include high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, and chronic pain. He will talk about the enormous body of research on meditation as the antidote to stress.

Join us for a free screening of Marvel Studios' action-packed spy thriller Black Widow (2021; Rated PG-13; 2h, 14min). Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Visit the activity tower in the children's room to stock up on a variety of fun seasonal activities. We will fill the tower each week with paper crafts, puzzles, and games. New activities will be added every Saturday!
Cardboard & Cookies - December Craft Kit

Use the supplies in this month's craft kits to create a gingerbread house out of cardboard and paper. Crafts kits are available on a first-come-first-served basis while supplies last.
Storytime Sacks

Storytime Sacks contain a finger play to share with your family and a simple craft you can make at home. Storytime Sacks are available on a first-come-first-served basis while supplies last.

Make a quick stop by the Community Room for a festive pair of antlers and a snack before heading outside for a holiday story. At the end of your walk receive a special treat and a craft kit.

Union Library
Adult Volunteers Needed
Adult volunteers are needed to assist the librarian with shelving books, finding books, organizing shelves, and other tasks.

Available shifts:
  • 10:00am-12:00pm
  • 12:00pm-2:30pm
  • 2:30pm-5:00pm

  • 10:00am-1:00pm
Scheduling is flexible. Volunteer as your schedule allowsonce every other month, once a month, or more.
