FALL WORK PARTY AND MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Sunday, October 30 @ 9AM
The weather cooperated and we had a beautiful sunny day. The turnout was sufficient to get all of the necessary work done in time to have our Fall Membership Meeting before we all dug into a delicious lunch. Thank you again to all who contributed soups and other items for our lunch and to all the ladies in the kitchen who had it all ready for us to all enjoy. I had more bowls of soup than I can count!
A large pile of firewood was stacked. Clubhouse docks were disassembled and relocated to within the permanent docks; this worked well last year since we had the dock de-icers running and saved lots of effort in lifting the docks out of the water. Grounds were cleaned up. Chairs and tables were stacked. Awnings were removed. Club boats were tucked away for the winter. And I'm sure other things were done that I didn't mention. All work was appreciated and is truly what makes our member-run club function so well. Without contributions from so many members, we wouldn't be able to get so much done. If you weren't able to make it and would still like to contribute, contact our Building and Grounds Chairman and he'll put you to work now or in the spring.
The Fall Membership Meeting was held in the clubhouse and it went smoothly. A new slate of Officers and Board of Directors was elected (see above). Thanks again to Sue Valitsky and Lori Gallagher for their hard work as the nominating committee. As a note, I overlooked that our former Sunshine Chairwoman had taken on a new role and would now have two jobs. Kathy Soriano has volunteered to take on the Sunshine role and I will officially appoint her as an Ex-Officio Board Member at the Spring Membership Meeting but in the meantime please contact Kathy for all of your Sunshine needs.
At the meeting the need for gravel at the end of the paved portion of the deep ramp was once again raised and agreed to be completed while the water is low. I'm happy to report that this has been completed and gravel has been added and smoothed out at the end of the ramp. Several boats were pulled after this and I can attest that it is an improvement.
I want to also take this space to acknowledge the concerns that a few members have raised over the ongoing discussions of a Brian Bish memorial gazebo/pavilion in the yard between the clubhouse and the deep water ramp. I know that there are passionate voices on both sides and I want everyone to rest assured that no final decision has been made at this time. We are evaluating options and weighing location vs. likely usage and any possible obstructions. The Board will debate this further over the winter and report out at the Spring Membership Meeting where we can solicit feedback from all members before any final decision is made.
