Special Team Message

CASA Team

On behalf of the CASA Team we are ecstatic to introduce our monthly newsletter; ¿Qué Pasa, CASA?

Our newsletter is more than just a fun project; it is an extension of our program's efforts to support our estudiantes as they navigate their educational and career endeavors. ¿Qué Pasa, CASA? will contain important resources, scholarship inquiries, and reminders; all geared to help support our estudiantes y nuestra comunidad.

We would like to thank our Latinx students who are the foundation behind the creation of our program and for our current CASA students who gave us the initial spark of inspiration. Thank you for your unwavering support.

Here's to the beginning of an exciting journey with ¿Qué Pasa, CASA?

CASA Student Spotlight

CASA Student Spotlight is a curated section meant to centralize connections and foster a sense of community among peers who share similar interests, passions, and aspirations. How does it work? CASA Student Spotlight utilizes a randomized selection process. With over 100 CASA students, you never know who will be featured next! Join us in celebrating the richness of our student community.

Isabel L

Isabel Lozada, a Chico-based biology major aspiring to be a surgeon, credits her job as a student assistant at the BC library for maintaining a high GPA, as it provides balance with work and school responsibilities. She joined CASA after orientation and appreciates the valuable insights from tours at Sac State and Enloe.

Her advice to students is to use SI and tutoring. Her dream school is UC San Diego, drawn to its excellent medical school, on-campus hospital, and beach location. This semester, her goals include staying on track and achieving straight A’s.

Meet Hector, originally from Jalisco, Mexico now thriving in Live Oak, CA. He's currently double majoring in art and psychology which stemmed from his passion, natural talent and a genuine gravitation towards both subjects. Hector appreciates the friendly atmosphere and diverse opportunities at Butte College. His appreciation for exploration was further fueled by CASA's sponsorship to the CSU Young Males of Color Conference.

Outside academics, Hector stays grounded with workouts, video games, and cherished moments with friends, emphasizing the significance of stepping out of his comfort zone to forge meaningful connections. Hector looks forward to transferring to Chico State in 2025, establishing a consistent routine, refining his art styles, and securing an art internship. With an open mind, he embraces every opportunity on his exciting journey.
