The iSOSY Personal Wellness Training Package addresses the broad concept of personal wellness, with an emphasis on the unique stresses that occur in the lives of migratory students and their families. While physical health is easily discussed openly, conversation about mental health is often met with discomfort, fear, and stigma. The training package and all resources contained therein have been designed for service providers to learn more about personal wellness and mental health–and to teach others about issues that address and support overall wellness.

There are nine self-directed modules that walk the user through the basics of personal wellness:

  • ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
  • Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care
  • Cultural Responsiveness
  • Resilience
  • Mindfulness
  • Self-Care
  • Trauma-Informed Supports and Practices
  • Suicide Prevention
  • SEL Responsible Decision Making

There are several resources available that may be appropriate for service providers to learn more about how to help migratory students and families navigate the stress the holiday season can bring when they experience increased feelings of separation from home, family, language, and culture due to high mobility, on top of the economic challenges of winter and the holiday season:

At the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, they understand that life's challenges can sometimes be difficult. Whether you are facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol, or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, caring counselors are there for you. You are not alone, and service is confidential. Call, text, or chat “988”. This resource is available in ENGLISH and SPANISH!

Let’s remember the many migratory workers who work hard to help make possible the food, wreaths, greenery, and trees that enrich our lives at this time of year. Say "Thank you!" to those who are likely far from their own families this December, working tirelessly to ensure that so many have what is needed for family feasts and holiday traditions this season.

All of us at iSOSY wish you the happiest holiday season of all! Thank you for all you do each day of the year to meet the needs of migratory students across the nation.
