Good Afternoon All,

“What did I miss?”    I asked that question about what might happen in November. Changes started late and are still going on.   While many have gone up, there are limited amounts of good prices still out there.  More than ever I recommend “just in case inventories” as uncertainty about product availability are pushing up Amino Acid prices.

Lysine has been moving up all November with difficulty securing totes.

Methionine is on allocation by contract or previous use volumes by several distributors and manufacturers. This situation looks to get worse soon.

All Import Amino Acids continue to have huge increases in freight costs as containers have become less available. The higher cost of corn in China is also contributing to the increases. Tryptophan, Valine & Threonine have seen the most change.
“The great rebuying of America” Imports for many items are at record levels. While Covid 19 continues to decimate the service and hospitality industries in United States, other Americans are flush with extra cash. This segment of people is buying up products like never before. Cars, Trucks, ATVs, Appliances, Furniture, Homes, etc. Low interest rates are making this easier for them too. Long/short our dollar is becoming devaluated. The last couple of years of historically low Amino Acid prices are likely nearing the end.
Christmas letters; Some people find them corny, some look forward to them. Mine is a little lean this year.

The first article contains 21 wishes that seem practical and hopeful for a successful year in animal agriculture.

The second article highlights the progress of U.S. Agriculture water use. I never gave much thought to how water is used, so reading that a third of all water usage in United States goes to agricultural production and food manufacturing wasn't an eye opener. But reading this article made me realize the importance of this resource.
