'Tis the Season to be Jolly!!!
Coming Up at Sherwood:

Hello 1st Grade Parents!
We are quickly approaching an exciting part of the year, our first grade Christmas musical! Here is everything you need to know for the month of December.

Volunteer opportunities:
We will have full first grade rehearsals every day during the week of December 3rd (Monday-Thursday only) during first grade specials time. If you want to be there just to help out (an extra set of eyes is always valuable) please send me an email at The rehearsals will be from 12:25-1:10 each day.

Concert times:
December 5th - In school performance combined with 5th and 6th grade choirs. 2:30pm-3:30pm.
December 6th - Evening performance 6:30pm-7:30pm.

Concert attire:
Students should wear dressy holiday clothes. There is no specific color students have to wear, but red, green, white, and black all look very nice for the show.

Penny Wars: Two more days left

(Mon, Dec. 3 & Tues, Dec 4) to participate in the 9United Penny Wars as we help take care of others this holiday season!  Let's bring in the most money in the next two days - I know we can do it!

Attention all K - 3rd Parents...

We are excited that so many kindergartners - 3rd graders are interested in the production of 101 Dalmatians.  Due to the high interest, we have added a second cast.  You read that right...a second cast!  
Audition times are now available on the sign-up for those currently on the waiting list. The sign-up is also available for those who have not signed up yet.
There IS still a cap, but it has doubled to 100 students.
AUDITIONS - December 13 @ Sherwood
For those already signed up, auditions will be held at your already reserved time slot.
For those on the waiting list, choose a time for your audition.
$70 fee is due at auditions. 
The production team will cast the kids in 2 separate casts (Patch Cast and Freckles Cast). 
The production team will build the casts based on what will make the best casts. 
REHEARSALS - start January 3
Rehearsals will be after school on Thursdays until 5 p.m.  
Casts will be divided to go over lines, songs, and dances.
MANDATORY - 2 parent volunteers PER CAST at all rehearsals. (sign-up to come)
SHOWS @ Sherwood
Each cast will have its own 2 performances; a Friday night and a Saturday night show.

January 3 - February 28. Rehearsals on Thursday after school until 5 p.m.
March 7. Dress rehearsals.
      Patch Cast: 5:30 - 7 p.m.

March 8. Shows.
      Patch Cast: 6 p.m.  
      Freckles Cast: 7:30 p.m.
March 9. Shows.
      Patch Cast: 7 p.m.  
      Freckles Cast: 5 p.m.
No in-school performances.

Wednesday, December 5

Attend a free screening of "Angst,  Raising Awareness Around Anxiety," 

a movie about anxiety and depression in youth.
There are two upcoming showings followed by a panel discussion.
Monday, December 3rd at 7pm to 8:30pm, Turpin High School auditorium. 
Thursday, December 6th at 7pm to 8:30pm at Anderson High School auditorium.
Both showings are FREE and open to the public and are made possible by funding from Creativities Studio and Brand New Day, a small business owned by Turpin alumni, Mandy Blackwell Hauer and Jennifer Johnson.
Teen suicide is at epidemic proportions.

Scouts BSA is available to any child who has either:
Earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts, or
Completed the Fifth Grade, or
Is between 11 and 17 years old.
Anyone not yet age 11, but in the 5th grade, should also plan to attend to get more information.
Note:  Troop 112 is an all boy troop, but they hope to launch an all girl troop in February 2019, so any girls that meet the above requirements are also encouraged to attend this event.
My child didn't do Cub Scouts, will he be behind? 
No.  Cub Scouts is not a prerequisite to Scouts BSA.

You can complete your background check by visiting our Central Office (7946 Beechmont Ave.) 
Tuesdays or Thursdays from 7:30-3:00.
