Dear St. Peter Families,
Our theme for Catholic Schools Week this January is a continuation of our school theme: What Would Jesus Do? We would like to invite St. Peter's adult family members to consider if they have a talent they can teach to our students. If you feel called by the Holy Spirit to teach your talent, here are the details to consider:
What can you teach?: hair styling, gymnastics, gardening, baking/cooking, art or craft, dancing, acting, day in the life of your job (police, firefighter, etc...)
When: Friday, January 31st-one or two sessions of your activity from approximately 8:30-10:30.
Who: You can determine whether your activity is appropriate for younger or older students.
Where: You will teach the activity in a classroom or the appropriate space in the school building. A teacher/staff member will be in the room with you to supervise and assist.
How: Please send your name, an activity you would like to teach, and any questions you have concerning materials needed and logistics to Mrs. Garner at sgarner@stpeterjc.org no later than January 10th.
All volunteers must be compliant with Virtus.

Parents who have been receiving Bark emails to sign up an email address they don't want to use can unsubscribe from the emails using the "unsubscribe" option at the bottom of the email. If you have already signed up to receive Bark notifications about your child and don't want to use another email (like work or another parent's email) just unsubscribe! You will continue to receive any severe notifications on your parent Bark dashboard, this step will not interfere with the email you used to sign up. If you have any questions please let Samantha know at ssekelsky@stpeterjc.org

Hello! My name is Brenda Raymer and I am one of the 4th grade teachers here at St. Peter. This is my 32nd year teaching and 25 of those have been at St. Peter. I earned my bachelor’s degree from (Southwest) Missouri State University and my masters degree from Lincoln University. I have been an active member of St. Peter Parish since my husband, Tim, and I moved to town in 1992. We have 2 children: Nathan and Matthew. Nathan, 27, graduated from the University of Missouri with a mechanical engineering degree and is currently working at the Callaway Nuclear Plant. This summer he married the girl of his dreams, Annie Donovan. Annie works in the parish office here at St. Peter so now there are two “Mrs. Raymers” on campus. Matthew, 23, graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in acting. He often performs in shows for Capital City Productions and, during the day, he works at Samuel’s Fine Menswear. We also have 2 cats, Siren and Apollo, and one dog, Carly. In my spare time I love to watch the Chiefs and am usually very disappointed when football season is over. I enjoy going to garage sales to buy things for my school kids CBG exchanges. I greatly enjoy baking and have made many wedding cakes, even my son’s. Most of all, I love spending time with family and friends.
As we enter the sacred season of Advent, we are reminded of the beauty of preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ. This is a season of anticipation, hope, and joy—a perfect time to deepen our faith as a family by attending Mass together.
Bringing your children to Mass during Advent offers more than just a tradition; it is an opportunity to experience the joy of community, the peace of Christ’s presence, and the beauty of the liturgy. For families of St. Peter School, attending Mass is also an important expression of active stewardship. It demonstrates to our children the value of prioritizing faith and being part of a parish that nurtures our spiritual growth.
Mass attendance is more than an obligation—it is a gift we give to our children, teaching them the true meaning of our faith. Together, let us journey to Bethlehem in spirit, preparing our hearts to receive the greatest gift of all: the birth of our Savior.
May this Advent bring your family peace, joy, and a renewed commitment to faith.
Blessings,
Dr. Gayle Trachsel, ED.D

It is that time of year when the weather can affect our school day. Below is the policy/procedure from the handbook, which is provided as a refresher.
Inclement Weather
a) When weather conditions make it necessary to close school, the cancellation or snow schedule will be announced by local/social media. Those who subscribe to our texting service will be notified via text of any cancellations or early dismissals.
b) Due to extreme weather, it may be necessary to dismiss school and after-care early. Local/social media will announce the closing time. An email will be sent to all parents, and a notification will be sent via text to all subscribers to the school texting service. Telephoning the school jams the telephone lines and is to be avoided.
c) On early dismissal days due to inclement weather, K-8 children are dismissed to the big flat for pick-up. Students not picked up 20 minutes after dismissal will report to the school office.
d) There is NO after-school care on all early release days. If inclement weather is forecasted, parents are to stay tuned to the local and social media during the day, as After-School Care may need to be dismissed early if the weather hits after 3:05 PM.
The link to sign up for text alerts is posted at the bottom of this newsletter and on our web page for anyone who has not already signed up.

TO BE AN “ACTIVE” CATHOLIC STEWARD MEANS:
- To Pray: that is, attend Mass faithfully in the parish on weekends and Holy Days.
- To Participate: that is, to use one’s time and talents to strengthen the parish community and advance the Gospel.
- To Sacrificially Give: that is, pledge and remain current on a tithe of financial first fruits to support the life and ministries of the parish. The goal is 8% to the parish and 2% to other worthy charities.
