Jamie Lemus Inducted into California Energy Commission (CEC) Hall of Fame


Jaime Lemus, Director of the Transportation & Climate Change Division at the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District has been named as a 2025 inductee into the CEC’s Clean Energy Hall of Fame. He was officially inducted at the CEC’s Hall of Fame ceremony on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Free EVSE Maintenance Training for Public Agency Fleets


The California Energy, Power and Innovation Collaborative (Cal EPIC – rebranded from the California Mobility Center) in cooperation with SMUD is considering offering free one-week EVSE maintenance training to help public agency fleets keep their EVSE operational. Public Agency Fleet Managers Interested in Free EVSE Training contact Orville Thomas.

Breathe California - Annual Public Service Announcement (PSA) Video Contest



  • Open to students in 6th-12th graders in Sacramento County and the City of West Sacramento 
  • Create 30-60 second PSA videos focused on air quality and lung health issues 
  • Air Quality Education and Information 
  • Food Scraps Recycling and Recovery 
  • Harms and Impacts of Commercial Tobacco 
  • All footage must be shot by video producers, no stock footage and no use of any AI 
  • Submission Deadline February 20 @ 11:59pm

Grants Accepting Applications

HVIP Reopening December 16


CARB’s HVIP program will reopen on December 16 at 9am. A program addendum has been released that has important program changes that impact voucher eligibility and requirements including:


  • Eligible fleets can use HVIP vouchers to purchase Class 2b pickups
  • Clean Fuel Rewards can now stack with HVIP for Class 8 truck purchases

The Fast Charge California Project (FCCP) is the latest CALeVIP initiative funded by the CEC and managed by the Center for Sustainable Energy.

EnergIIZE Megawatt Charging System (MCS) Funding Lane Open 


  • Project readiness is prioritized
  • Applications in the same readiness tier will be prioritized based on order of submission
  • Applications will be reviewed in two batches with the first review on January 6, 2026 
  • Per charging port incentive amount: $450,000
  • Maximum award per project: $2,500,000

Communities in Charge Application Window Is Now Open


CALSTART announces the launch of Communities in Charge providing $30M in incentives for schools, health care centers, local businesses and communities.


  • Application window for Level 2 EV charging rebates opened on August 5th 
  • Application window for Level 1 EV charging rebates will open on October 7th, 2025 
  • Last day to apply for either a Level 1 or Level 2 EV charging rebate is January 9th, 2026

White House Auto Emission Standards Announcement


President Trump has announced a roll back of auto emission standards to levels that can be met with conventional fuels. In the roll back announcement, the president stated that the previous standards mandated electric vehicles and rolling back the standards will make automobile ownership more affordable.

Carpool Lane Grace Period Ends


The perk that allowed solo BEVs drivers to use the carpool lanes ended in October but the CHP had a 60 day grace period before enforcement started. The grace period has ended.

Massive Used Leased BEVs Will Disrupt Market


Nearly one million used BEVs will come off-lease in the next two years and the owners can lease a new EV for less than the buyout on the used EV so the used EV market will be flooded, prices will plummet, the product of building an artificial market built on government subsidies.

Nvidia has released open-source software that uses AI “Reasoning” to accelerate the implementation of autonomous systems.

Norway’s BEV Registrations


Norway registered 19,427 new electric cars in November, nearly 100% of all new cars sold. Norway is able to provide significant incentives for new BEVs because they are one of the world’s largest producers of fossil petroleum.

The US DOT has adopted Google Workspace’s cloud-based productivity and collaboration tools including the Gemini AI system.
