Supervisors Highlight Rosa Parks Day and
Consider Urban Limit Line Update
At the December 9th meeting, the Board of Supervisors recognized Rosa Parks Day, honoring her enduring legacy in the civil rights movement and reaffirming the county’s commitment to equity, dignity, and inclusion. Supervisors highlighted the importance of continued community reflection on Parks’ leadership and the broader fight for social justice.
The Board also received an update on the County's Urban Limit Line (ULL) update, which will be on the ballot in the June 2026 election. The discussion outlined the proposed adjustments to the county’s long-standing growth boundary.

Moraga Mayor Steve Woehleke Wraps Up 2025 Term
Wednesday night, Supervisor Andersen joined the Moraga Town Council meeting to celebrate and thank Mayor Steve Woehleke, on the completion of his term leading the Town’s government and civic initiatives. During his tenure, Mayor Woehleke presided over council meetings and represented Moraga at official events, often focusing on community priorities such as local infrastructure projects, public engagement, and regional policy matters. In mid-2025, for example, the council under his leadership authorized the mayor to formally oppose state legislation that would shift land-use authority to regional transit agencies, a move aimed at protecting local zoning autonomy.
The Town Council then voted Kerry Hillis as Mayor and Brian Dolan as Vice Mayor to lead the Town through 2026.

Lafayette Mayor Susan Candell Passes Gavel
At Tuesday's reorganization of the Lafayette City Council, Supervisor Andersen thanked Mayor Susan Candell for her dedicated leadership, recognizing her tireless commitment to the city and her contributions toward preserving Lafayette’s quality of life, local governance, and community values. Mayor Candell has served on the Council since 2018, and previously held the Mayor’s seat in 2021.
The City Council then selected Carl Anduri as their next Mayor, and John McCormick as Vice Mayor.

Tree Trimming and Removal Work Along Danville Boulevard and Stone Valley Road

Contra Costa County Public Works will be conducting tree trimming and tree removal along Danville Boulevard and Stone Valley Road from December 15th through January 2nd. The work will be done week days between 8 AM and 4 PM. Traffic control will be in place, and drivers may experience delays of up to 10 minutes.
The work will occur at four locations along Danville Boulevard and Stone Valley Road and is part of a multi-year tree management plan developed with an arborist to improve public safety and tree health by removing dead trees and trimming live trees that present a hazard to the public.

Seeking Nominations for Contra Costa County
Youth Hall of Fame
Contra Costa County is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Youth Hall of Fame Awards, honoring outstanding county residents ages 12–18. Awardees will be recognized at the 32nd Annual César E. Chávez Commemorative Celebration at 11 AM on Tuesday, March 31st, in the Board Chambers at 1025 Escobar Street, Martinez, with the event also streamed on Contra Costa Television and the County's website.
Nominees should demonstrate exceptional character in one of six areas:
Good Samaritan
Volunteerism
Teamwork
Leadership and Civic Engagement
Perseverance
Innovation and Empowerment.

Contra Costa County Expands Access to Free
COVID-19 Test Kits
As winter respiratory illnesses rise, Contra Costa County is expanding access to free at-home COVID-19 test kits. District 2 residents can now pick up kits at the Supervisor Andersen's Danville Office, 309 Diablo Road.
County Health officials remind the community that at-home testing is an easy way to identify infections early, especially for those with symptoms, visiting vulnerable individuals, or returning to work or school. Contra Costa Health also continues to share guidance on staying healthy, including staying home when sick, frequent handwashing, and seeking care if symptoms worsen. By making testing more accessible, the County aims to help residents stay safe and informed throughout the winter season.

Alamo Community Gathers for Annual Holiday Tree Lighting
Supervisor Andersen was joined by Alamo Municipal Advisory Council members Cecily Barclay and Sharon Burke in the heart of Alamo, as it glowed a little brighter this week. Families, neighbors, and friends came together for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting celebration held at Andrew H. Young Park. The event marked the start of the festive season with its blend of small-town charm and heartfelt community spirit.
The evening featured music, treats, and plenty of holiday cheer as residents bundled up to watch the towering tree come alive with sparkling lights. Children eagerly lined up for crafts and photos, while volunteers and local organizations helped create a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
This beloved tradition not only celebrates the season but also highlights the strength and warmth of the Alamo community. Each year, the lighting of the tree serves as a reminder of the joy of gathering together, supporting our neighbors, and sharing in simple moments that make the holidays special.
With the tree now shining brightly through the month, Alamo enters the holiday season connected, festive, and ready for the celebrations ahead.

Contra Costa County and the County Service Area P-5 Citizen Advisory Committee (CSA P-5) proudly recognized Lee Mlejnek for more than twenty-two years of exceptional volunteer service to the community. A respected dentist and longtime Alamo resident, Lee has demonstrated unwavering professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the community.
As the committee’s longest-serving member and Secretary since 2009, he has provided steady leadership, strengthened community partnerships with the Sheriff’s Office, and helped enhance safety and quality of life for residents of Round Hill and the greater Alamo area. His commitment, compassion, and leadership make him a role model throughout the county. Supervisor Andersen extends heartfelt appreciation and congratulations to Leland for his many years of service.

Contra Costa County Opens Recruitment for Four Seats on African American Wellness Hub
Advisory Body
Contra Costa County is recruiting for four openings on the African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub Transitional Community Advisory Body (TCAB), which helps guide the development of a new countywide support network for vulnerable African American residents. The TCAB advises the Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice on selecting a lead entity and identifying community-based providers. The group meets monthly and seeks broad representation from residents with lived or professional experience serving African American communities. Vacancies include one member seat and three alternate seats, with priority for expertise in behavioral health, housing navigation, preventive health care, infant and maternal health, public benefit enrollment, and reentry support.

Green Empowerment Zone Governing Board Recruiting Members
The Green Empowerment Zone (GEZ) Governing Board is seeking applicants for seven new board positions representing environmental or environmental justice interests from individuals who live or work within the GEZ. The GEZ covers Northern Waterfront communities across Contra Costa County and aims to support clean-energy job growth by expanding access to tax incentives, grants, training programs, and private investment. Appointed board members will serve two-year terms, with meetings held every other month in Martinez.
