The Fourth Sunday of Advent

The Live Nativity and Lights is THIS SATURDAY, December 17

What is it?

This Saturday is our Live Nativity and Lights event, a free, family-friendly walkthrough nativity experience. It will be spread out all across our grounds, beginning at the Lower Narthex entrance (115 e. Fairfax St.) with our hot chocolate station, there will be familiar scenes from the Christmas story featuring parishioners in costume as well as real live animals - yes Delilah the Camel will be making a comeback this year!

There will be lots of Christmas lights as always and this year our wonderful choir will be there to sing carols and spread joy to our visitors plus our docents will be in The Historic Church - which will be open to the public - to answer questions and to open our history up to visitors. This event is perfect or inviting friends, family and neighbors to, there will be hot chocolate both outside at the start of the route, plus to opportunity to sit in the Parish Hall and warm up - and we’ll have a photo booth for you to mark the occasion.

Why do we do it?

The Falls Church welcomes everyone, and we say this a lot, but this event is the true outworking of that welcome. People are welcomed and INVITED to come to our space, explore it and feel welcomed in a fun, friendly way which shares our faith with them.

What can I do?

We would ideally like a few extra hands for ushering our guest, so if you do have even an hour to spare, please email Lauren ASAP.

We'd love you to share the Live Nativity graphic with your networks, you can download it here as an image file to share on your social media, in your neighborhood groups, and with your friends, family, and neighbors to encourage them to join us for this fun and free event. We also have a Facebook event, which you can share.

Practicalities

Parking - the circle parking lot will be closed so we encourage parking on East Fairfax St. as well as at the George Mason Square parking garage across Lee Highway (Route 29).

2023 Stewardship Campaign Update

Our Pledge campaign for 2023 is still going - you can make a pledge anytime, the sooner the better!

If you didn’t receive a pledge packet either at church or in the mail, and would like one, we will happily send you one, please contact Veronica Kannan at veronica.kannan@gmail.com.

As of now, we have 107 pledges for a total of $511,118.21, which is 80% of our pledge goal for 2023 of $640,000.

Please consider making a donation between now and Monday, December 19 towards the flowers, greenery, and wreaths, which decorate the church for Christmas.

If you’d like to donate to the flowers in memory of, celebration of, or thanksgiving of a loved one, please send a note to Ellie Bangay at ebangay@thefallschurch.org with their name as you’d like it to be written and indicate which category you'd like them to be listed underneath. The names will be printed in the Christmas Eve bulletin.
