Worship with Tigard UMC on Sunday, December 19 at 10 a.m.
Pre-registration for worship is no longer required.
The day is drawing near! On this upcoming 4th Sunday of Advent, we hear Mary's song of praise, which is also a song about how God's promises will be fulfilled in the birth of Christ. The one nurtured in her womb will change everything. Through him, God will overturn the long established order of things. Our guest preacher will be the Rev. Jim Frisbie, and his message is called "Mary's Christmas."
This Sunday, Dave Nelson will offer special music on his trumpet and the TUMC Sanctuary Choir will offer the anthem "I Heard the Bells" (by way of a pre-recorded video), our very own accompanist Sandy will be at the piano, Ginia will be our vocalist, Tim and Betsey will light the fourth Advent candle, and Judy Emerson will read scripture. We hope you can join us for a wonderful time of worship -- in-person or online!
Christmas Eve
Candlelight Worship
Celebrate the birth of God's love in Jesus Christ.
In-Person at 5 pm and 7 pm
YouTube Livestream at 7 pm

For the first time in two years, we will gather in person for Christmas Eve services! It will be a little different this year. Face masks will be required, attendees will be asked to sign-in when they arrive for contact tracing purposes, and there will be no indoor congregational singing. However, we are working on a plan to end the service singing by candlelight outside. Even though it will different, we are grateful to be able to gather together on this holy night to celebrate God's incredible gift to humankind.
Terry Neal, from TUMC, was featured by the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference during its "Celebrating Advent" series on Facebook. Here's what they wrote about Terry:

Terry Neal truly cares for all souls and puts his faith into action, regularly supporting the work of the Interfaith Movement for Immigrant Justice (IMIrJ). Lately he’s been working with the Refugee Care Collective to gather and store 500 refugee care kits at his home church, Tigard UMC. These care kits include everything from bedding to dishes, food and more. Terry is the light of hope in this, and many other aspects of his church-community volunteerism.
The Giving Tree at Tigard UMC
For BHOB food pantry families

In the lobby of the church building is the giving tree. You are invited to bring donations of new gloves, hats, scarves and/or socks and place them under the tree any time before December 24th and they will be delivered to food pantry families at Bethlehem House of Bread.
The tree also holds star ornaments listing practical and much needed items for pantry families, such as diapers, toothpaste, and deodorant. Take a star, purchase the item on it and then return the item to the base of the Giving Tree. These items will also be shared with food pantry families at Bethlehem House of Bread. Questions? Contact Bethlehem House of Bread.

The church lobby is open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Let us pray

THANK YOU for Continuing to Support the Work of Tigard UMC
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we are continuing the ministry of our church any way we can. We are adapting to using technology to reach people with caring, support, and help. If you are able, please continue to support the church. Especially helpful is online recurring giving. TUMC uses Pushpay for online and electronic giving.

Here's how you can give:
  • Visit the church web site and click on the donate link.
  • Text “TUMC” (without the quote marks) to the number 833-459-8142 and you will receive a link to our church’s giving page. Make a one-time donation to the fund of your choice, or set up a recurring donation.
