Why is Village Hall's Phone Ringing?
What is the Holiday Refuse and Recycling Collection Schedule?
I received a letter about insuring my water service line. Is this from the Village?
- No, this is not a Village-sanctioned communication. The Village of Whitefish Bay cannot recommend any particular coverage and pursuing this coverage is at your own discretion and risk. There are informational resources regarding water services on our website.

Two Important Notes from the Chief of Police
Don't Warm Up Your Car Unattended
It’s that time of year again, it’s getting cold outside. The Police Department is seeing a number of cars unattended running in driveways.
We ask that you do not leave your keys in an unattended, unlocked, and running vehicle.
Thieves can walk up to your car, get in, and drive off in a matter of 5 seconds.
Keep Your Property Safe
During the holiday season, the Police Department asks that you be particularly vigilant in making sure that the keys are out of your vehicle(s) and that they are secured. The Police Department also asks that you leave exterior lights on at night. A well-lit property is a deterrent to thieves and it assists our officers in monitoring your property.
At night, Police Department third shift Officers are watching out for the community. When an Officer sees an open car door, a dome light on, or an open garage door they will do their best to secure the property.
Some residents may have found brochures in their unlocked cars or garages from the Police Department informing them of the #9pmROUTINE.
At 9:00 pm make it a routine to:
- Bring In Your Valuables
- Lock Your Cars
- Lock Your Doors
- Lock Your Windows

Winter Reminders from Public Works:
Village Snow Plowing Procedures:
Village crews clear streets starting with the main thoroughfares, the crews then proceed to streets adjacent to schools, after that residential streets and alleys are cleared. Sidewalks next to village land are also cleared.
Resident Snow and Ice Removal:
All residents and business owners are responsible for snow and ice removal from public sidewalks adjacent to their properties within 24 hours of a snow event. Please clear all corners with crosswalks. Handicap accessible ramps should be cleared out enough to accommodate a wheel chair. Visit the Village website for more details
Snow Storm Cart Placement:
During winter months refuse and recycling carts should continue to be placed within 3 feet of the curb or alley edge
and 3 feet from any side or rear obstruction, including other carts, trees, garage, fence, or any other elements.
In the event of snow, Residents are encouraged to utilize their driveway apron or clear a portion of their parkway for cart placement. Snow and ice must be cleared around the cart(s) as well as the lid. Please do not place your refuse and recycling carts in the street during the winter months as it can affect proper snow removal by our village snow plow crews. Proper placement is imperative to automated collection.

Pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes and Village of Whitefish Bay Municipal Code, delinquent property tax bills are charged 1.5% interest and penalty per month (in the calculation of interest and penalty, a partial month is considered a full month). Interest and penalty are charged retroactive to February 1, 2019.

North Shore Health Department:
News from the Health Department:
Did you know? According to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, eight percent of Wisconsin residents have asthma. Milwaukee County has the highest rate of asthma-related emergency department visits in Wisconsin. Asthma is a chronic disease that can be managed with lifestyle changes and medication. Asthma causes episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing. Common triggers for asthma symptoms include air pollution, pollen, pet dander and smoking.
For some individuals, cold weather can trigger asthma symptoms. Cold air causes the lungs to become inflamed and fill with mucus, causing breathing difficulties. If your asthma symptoms worsen in winter, talk to your doctor about adjusting your medication plan for these months. To learn more about asthma, visit the
CDC’s webpage.
