WEE EXPLORERS: CHRISTMAS STAR |
|
On Monday, December 21st, just after sunset, we will be able to view a phenomenon dubbed the “Christmas Star”. This “great conjunction” will happen when the planets of Jupiter and Saturn appear to align perfectly to form what appears to be one very bright star!
Happening so close to the holiday, we are also celebrating it as the Christmas Star!
Join us by 5pm in a field about 2.5 miles south of town, away from light pollution, to get a good view of the “Star”, which should best be visible right after sunset (estimated around 5:20pm that evening).
We will briefly talk about what is happening out there in space with the planets, then will follow up with a reading around a campfire from the book “Song of the Stars”, which is a Christian child’s book telling the story of the Christmas Star from the point of view of the animals. It’s a really neat and breathtaking view of the story of Jesus. No matter your views we hope you will join us this night! After the story we will have some hot chocolate.
Ages: 0-8, with families

Story afterward is biblically related
Outdoor nighttime event; dress appropriately; blankets suggested
Bring outdoor chairs or picnic style blankets to relax around the campfire; hot cocoa provided
Location is about 2.5 miles south of Purcell in a field. Planning on road parking and will have more details & exact location provided to those who are definitely coming. This is private property.
